On Friday, September 15, 2023, Jakob Kerby and John J. Killian were formally sworn in by the Honorable Magisterial District Judge, David A. Platchko, to assume their roles as School Police Officers (SPO) within the IU29.
The swearing-in ceremony also included Gino Yourey, who has been appointed as the Administrative Chief of Police for the newly-formed IU29 School Police Force.

Shannon Brennan, Interim Executive Director for IU29, expressed her enthusiasm for the addition of Kerby and Killian to the school's security team. She noted that IU29 is among the last educational institutions in the county to appoint SPO/SRO (School Resource Officer) staff.
The two part-time positions occupied by Kerby and Killian are financially supported by the School Mental Health & Safety and Security Grant, which is administered through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
