A Frackville woman has been cited for a hit and run in the borough.
According to Frackville Police, on Friday, October 20, 2023, around 11:00pm, Frackville Police Officer Brian Reno was dispatched to the 400 block of South Broad Mountain Avenue for a Hit and Run accident report.
Upon arrival witnesses stated that they heard a loud band and a vehicle engine accelerating. When they looked outside, they observed a silver in color vehicle traveling north on Broad Mtn Ave before striking another vehicle. Witnesses stated that the striking vehicle backed up a little before the vehicle went forward, striking the vehicle a second time. After striking the vehicle a second time, the striking vehicle backed up and drove away, fleeing from the area.
Butler Township Police located a silver Buick Century owned by Jean Markiewicz, 66, of Frackville parked to the rear of her residence. Officers observed recent damage and broken plastic pieces to the front bumper area of the parked vehicle.
Two vehicles had been located with damage from Markiewicz’s vehicle striking them. A black Cadillac XTS and a gold Honda Civic. These vehicles sustained minor damage. Officers located broken plastic pieces left behind from Markiewicz’s vehicle under the rear of one of the vehicles.
The next day, officers spoke with Markiewicz who admitted to striking the two vehicles.
Markiewicz will receive a citation for accidents involving damage to unattended property or vehicles.
