SAINT CLAIR - The Saint Clair fire department held its annual fire prevention program Tuesday for students of the Saint Clair School District in grades kindergarten through four.
Fire Chief Frank Uhrin said the department has been hosting the program for more than 25 years in hopes of educating youngsters about fire safety, the dangers of fire and what to do should they become a victim of a fire.
All five Saint Clair fire companies participated along with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources forestry division.
Also on hand was the smoke house of the Deer Lake-West Brunswick Township Fire Co. that have children the opportunity to see first-hand what is like in a smoke-filled building.
"We've been doing it for more than two decades," Uhrin said. "That shows how important we think this program is."
