Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Madochik) DeBalko.
Gerald was a member of St. Michael’s B.C. Church, McAdoo.
He was a graduate of McAdoo High School, class of 1957, and a U.S. Army veteran.
Prior to retiring, Gerald was employed as a Production/Control Manager at Dorr Oliver, of Hazleton and Allentown for many years.
He was a member of the McAdoo AMVETS, the McAdoo V.F.W. Post 6708 and the Lehigh Valley Stocking Assoc.
Gerald was an avid fly fisherman. He was a passionate Phillies baseball and Army football fan and enjoyed many trips to West Point.
He most enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his wife Eileen A. (Vendura) DeBalko.
Surviving, are his daughters Eileen Bray and husband Michael, Mountain Top; Virginia Deshisky and husband Jack, Jacksonville, FL; son Gerald A. DeBalko, II and wife Angela, Reinholds; daughter Valerie Pedriani and husband Jason, New Haven, VT; grandchildren Sean Ashford and wife Stephanie, Scott Ashford and wife Melissa, and Julie Ashford Bender and husband Jason; Kelly Deshisky; Dana, Nadine and Gerald DeBalko; and Elijah and Sophia Pedriani; great-grandchildren Elliot, Griffin, Eden, Eleanor and Archer; sister Elizabeth Fedorko, McAdoo; brothers Andrew DeBalko and wife Marion, McAdoo and David DeBalko and wife Diane, Huntingdon Valley; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
His funeral will be held Monday at the Damiano Funeral Home Inc., Blaine and Cleveland Streets, McAdoo. Rev. Gregory Hosler will conduct the service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s B.C. Cemetery, McAdoo.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
