Dave was born in Mahanoy City, PA on November 5, 1942, the son of the late Edward Danisavich and Veronica (Stanonis).
Dave graduated from the first class of Mahanoy Area High School in 1960, attended Stevens Trade School, and McCanns School of Business. He was known around town and to his friends as “Invader”.
In the 60’s he worked in banking and sales in various cities across the country including Philadelphia, Washington DC, Denver, and Seattle. Newlyweds Dave and Celeste decided they wanted to move back to their hometown to raise their family, and he began his career in liquor sales with Calvert Distillers and Valley Forge Wine and Spirits. He retired in the late 80’s.
Invader lived his life to the fullest. Dave and Celeste enjoyed traveling all over the US and abroad. They were known to jump in the car for a quick trip to AC and always enjoyed “Happy Hour” on a Friday night with their friends. He rarely turned down a card game or a trip to the casino. Dave was a sports fan and looked forward to Saturday afternoon college football games, March Madness, and always came to support his kids’ and his grandkids’ athletic competitions.
He was a social member of the Quakake American Legion, and the Ryan Township Fire Company.
Along with his wife, Celeste he was preceded in death by brothers Edward and Anthony (Tony).
He is survived by four children: Mark, “Marcus” of Frackville; Alex, of Barnesville; Pauline, wife of Harry Vargo, of Fogelsville; and Gloria Capece, of Barnesville; six grandchildren: Nathan, of Schuylkill Haven and Molly Danisavich, of Frackville; Monica, Julia, and Harrison Vargo of Fogelsville; and Deanna Capece, of Barnesville; Sister Dorothy (Danisavich) Ward, of Center Valley; sister-in-law Linda (Senavitis) Danisavich, of Coopersburg and sister-in-law Eleanor (Whalen) Carducci, of Stanhope, NJ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as his beloved dog, Bronn.
A Funeral Service will be held at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 AM on Monday, October 30th, with Reverend Robert T. Finlan officiating.
Friends and family may call Sunday October 29th, from 6 to 9 PM and Monday October 30th, from 9 to 10 AM. at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.
Interment will follow at St Joseph Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.

Elwood was an Air Force veteran of WW II and served in Europe for 26 months. After his military service he married his beloved wife Anna, who passed away in 2022. They were married just a few months shy of 75 years. Elwood and Anna shared their family home for 67 years. He became the neighborhood expert on the original home coal stoker equipment, and was the last of the original home homeowners. He always had ongoing home projects, and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers outside and having cut flowers on the table. Elwood and Anna enjoyed camping, and vacations were often an extended family event where planning generally included ‘We’ll come too”. Everyone was always welcome.
As a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Pottsville, Elwood served in various capacities including deacon, trustee and most importantly the unofficial handyman, being familiar with every square inch of the church building.
Elwood was employed by Bell Telephone and its subsequent corporate entities for 35 years, starting as a coin box collector and retiring as the chief switchman in the Pottsville central office. He was a very active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a service organization comprised of long-term telephone employees. One area of public service was repairing and maintaining the cassette players (Talking Books) provided by the public libraries so sight-impaired individuals could listen to books on tape. Elwood and colleagues got together regularly in his basement to clean and repair thousands of these cassette players. Another activity involved fitting various toys with electronic switches and controls to enable physically disabled children to play and provide them with visual and mental stimulation. The group also developed templates and painted large maps of the United States on local school playgrounds to help children learn the states and their locations within our country.
Elwood is survived by a son, Rob Umbenhauer and his wife Deb and a daughter Diane and her husband Bill Schaefer, a grandson Andy Schaefer and his wife Naomi Clayman, a granddaughter Emily Schaefer, and the family cats, Jasmine and Nellie, that he enjoyed so much. He is also survived by nephews Hal and Dean Bertsch and their extended families, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews with whom he was very close.
Services for Elwood will be 11AM, Monday, October 30, at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. As per Elwood’s wishes, the family requests that friends not wear black to the service. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10AM until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Elwood be made to First Baptist Church, 701 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, PA 17901 or the Pottsville Free Public Library, 215 W Market Street, Pottsville, PA 17901 (pottsvillelibrary.org). Interment with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family.

Jeanette Chalinsky, 87, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023.Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Michael Ciorlante and the late Geraldina (Caprio) Ciorlante. She was a graduate of Tamaqua High School.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Chalinsky, in 2006; a grandson, Francis Stephen Tranquillo, in 1995; two sisters, Ann Cipko and Lillian Ciorlante.
Jeanette is survived by a son; Stephen M. Chalinsky, husband of Lisa (Heinbach) Chalinsky, of Jonestown, Cass Township; a daughter; Ann Marie Tranquillo, wife of Frank Tranquillo, Pottsville; her granddaughter, Annette Kutz, of Hamburg; her grandsons, Aaron Tranquillo, fiancé of Emily Moretz, of Pottsville, Brian Schultz, of Minersville; her great grandson, Finn; special nieces, Faith Yanett, wife of Jim Yanett, of Coaldale, and Gerry Cipko, of Pottsville; several additional nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Church, 319 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hillside. The family prefers remembrances to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901 Dutcavich Funeral Home has charge.
