PracticalNursing.org conducts an analysis of nursing programs, taking into account various factors that determine the quality and effectiveness of each program. These factors include past and present first-time NCLEX-PN pass rates, as well as the program's support system for students throughout their journey towards licensure and beyond. In the reporting year for NCLEX first-time test takers (2022-2023), the Schuylkill Technology Centers celebrated a remarkable milestone with a 100% pass rate for the second consecutive year.
The Schuylkill Technology Centers' Practical Nursing program, founded by Martha Malinchok, embarked on its journey on January 9th, 1967. Over the years, this program has empowered close to 3,000 students who have successfully graduated, becoming an integral part of the healthcare workforce.
The Practical Nursing curriculum at STC spans three terms, offering students comprehensive instruction in various subjects, including Nursing Fundamentals, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pharmacology, Mental Health Nursing, Maternity, and Pediatrics. Beyond classroom education, students gain valuable experience through clinical rotations in healthcare facilities located throughout Schuylkill and Northumberland Counties. The Practical Nursing graduates from the Schuylkill Technology Centers have played a significant role in addressing the healthcare demands within these counties.
Director Shannon Brennan stated, "The STC Adult Practical Nursing Program presently operates two part-time day programs but hopes to add a part-time evening program in the near future." This commitment to expanding their offerings demonstrates the program's dedication to providing quality education and preparing more nursing professionals to meet the growing needs of the healthcare industry.
