A Shenandoah woman has been cited for causing a crash earlier this month in Frackville.
According to Frackville Police, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, around 10:10am, borough police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 400 block of South Lehigh Avenue.
Upon arriving, Officer Brian Reno was advised by Norma Zepeda, 43, of Ringtown, that the other vehicle involved in the crash had fled the scene.
The vehicle described as a white Toyota Sienna and was later located. It was learned that the vehicle was driven by Yanirys Ramirez-Perez, 35, of Shenandoah, at the time of the crash.
Zepeda stated that she was attempting to make a right turn into a business and while doing so the vehicle operated by Ramirez-Perez attempted to pass her on the right side. Zepeda advised police that she had her right turn signal activated. Zepeda’s vehicle sustained minor damage to the front passenger bumper and fender area.
Charges were filed with District Justice Tarantelli’s officer, charging Ramirez-Perez with accidents involving damage to attended vehicle, overtaking vehicle on the right, and operators required to be licensed.
Frackville Police want to remind motorists that Lehigh Ave is a NO PASSING ZONE and is not a two lane roadway until the location where signs and lane markings permit.
