Firefighters were called to a working commercial structure fire at a water company garage in Shenandoah on Wednesday afternoon.
The came in just before 1:00pm when Schuylkill County 911 received a call for a possible structure fire in the area of 100 North Ferguson Street.
Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas advised of smoke being visible as he responded, and a working commercial fire was alerted as the fire was found at 110 North Ferguson Street. The structure was a garage owned by Aqua, the borough's water company.
Units from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, and Frackville all responded to the scene and a 2nd alarm was dispatched for additional manpower. Pottsville's Rapid Intervention Team was also called.
The fire was marked under control within 30 minutes after the initial call and contained to the main fire building.
No workers were inside the garage at the time and no injuries were reported. A State Police fire marshal was requested to the scene to investigate a cause.
