On Wednesday, Schuylkill County Fire Companies responded to a multi-alarm working house fire in Mount Carmel.
The call came in around 11:30am, when emergency personnel were called to the area of East 5th and South Hickory Streets in Mount Carmel for a working house fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire in the rear of the home at 150 South Hickory Street.
From Schuylkill County, the Washington Fire Company from Ashland was called to the scene for their ladder and the Rangers Hose Company from Girardville responded to Kulpmont from on a move up assignment.
The fire struck a 2nd alarm and was brought under control in a little more than an hour.
Around 1:45pm, units were just beginning to clear the scene.
The home sustained heavy fire damage and nearby homes also sustained exterior damage from the heat. Three people were reported to be displaced.
One firefighter was transported to the hospital with an injury. No word on a cause as of this posting.
