Frackville Man Charged with Aggravated Assault in Pottsville

A Pottsville man is facing charges after an incident at the hospital on Wednesday.

According to Pottsville Police, on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, around 1:30pm, Pottsville Patrolman Sullivan was dispatched to Lehigh Valley East Campus for a report of an out-of-control patient.

Upon arrival Sullivan spoke to staff which advised that a Security Officer was sitting on a "one on One" with a patient, Jerry Rowell, 33, of Frackville, who was there for psychiatric evaluation. 

Staff explained that Rowell tried to leave and when security attempted to stop him Rowell threw the guard to the floor causing the security officer to strike his head.

Rowell was placed under arrest and charged with one count of felony Aggravated Assault, one count of misdemeanor Simple Assault and one count of summary Harassment.

Rowell was arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Ed Tarantelli and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000.00 straight cash.
