Mahanoy City Man Faces Charges After Alleged Assault on Former Girlfriend in Ashland

A Mahanoy City man is facing charges after he allegedly entered a former girlfriend's home and assaulted her in Ashland.

According to court papers, on Thursday, November 16th, 2023, just after 10:00pm, Ashland Police Officer Tyler Dissinger responded to a home in the 1200 block of Brock Street in the borough for a disturbance in progress.

At the scene, Dissinger spoke with the caller that reported that Shane Reinoehl, of Mahanoy City had assaulted a woman then fled the scene on a motorcycle.  Dissinger spoke with 2 other witnesses that also saw the assault.

Dissinger spoke with the victim at the Ashland Police Station where he learned that Reinoehl and the victim had broken up approximately 2 months ago.  The victim said she had been sleeping on this night and when she was woken up by Reinoehl turning on the light in her room asking where his masks were.

The victim alleges that when she told him she didn't know, he jumped on the bed, put a pillow over her face, and kicked her.  Friends that were at the home at the time, eventually told him to get off of her, then he fled.

Dissinger reported the victim having a visible injury on her ear with blood in her hair, with a fresh cut on her chin, and redness on her neck and chest.

On November 28th, 2023, charges of burglary, criminal trespassing, simple assault, and harassment were filed against Reinoehl for the incident.

As a result, a warrant for Reinoehl's was also issued.  He was also reported to have additional warrants for separate incidents.

He was later taken into custody on Tuesday morning in Mahanoy City on the above charges and the warrant.

Reinoehl was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli who set bail at $25,000 straight cash.

He would post bail later in the day through a bondsman and was released.

Reinoehl is scheduled to appear before Judge Tarantelli on December 6th, 2023, for a preliminary hearing.
