A Mahanoy City man is facing child endangerment charges after he was found living in deplorable conditions with his 3 children.
According to court papers from Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker's office, on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, around 10:45pm, Ptlm. Derek Weicikosky responded to 123 East Pine Street in the borough for a welfare check in regard to children possibly being neglected. The report included that three children lived in the home and there was no heat, hot water, and the children were covered in dog feces. The three children lived with their father, identified as 35-year-old Ian Bradley.
At the home, Ptlm. Weicikosky observed the 3 children who all appeared to be acting normal and no visible injuries. Police learned though there was no hot water and no food inside the home.
A search of the home led to the finding that there was visible mold upstairs, piles of dog feces all over the floor, exposed wiring from outlets, dog urine all over the floor, and an extremely dirty bathroom. Space heaters were also used in lieu of a furnace.
Mahanoy City Police contacted borough code enforcement who immediately inspected the home, condemning it, and deemed it not suitable for inhabitation.
Children and youth were contacted to take the children into protective custody.
Due to the findings, on November 14th, 2023, Mahanoy City Police filed 3 counts of felony charges Endangering the Welfare of Children against Bradley and issued a warrant for his arrest.
As of November 16th, 2023, he was not in custody.
