Mary Dolores Dunleavy, 93, of Ashland passed away Thursday evening November 16th at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.Born in Ashland on December 11, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Hede) and Martin Scully.
She was of the Catholic faith and was a lifetime member of Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (formerly St. Joseph) in Ashland. Mary Dolores worked as the church secretary for many years prior to her retirement.
Mary was the wife of the late William “Bill” J. Dunleavy Sr. who passed away in 1998.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother William Scully and daughter Kay E. (Dunleavy) Wilson.
She is survived by; son Marty Dunleavy, Ashland; son William Dunleavy Jr, Ashland; grandson Sean Dunleavy (Stephanie), Ashland; grandson John Pidgeon (Kim), Ashland; grandson Billy Dunleavy (Desiree), Shenandoah Heights; grandson Lee Dunleavy (Nikki), Germantown; great grandchildren Dominick & Taryn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday November 22nd at 11:00 AM from St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1115 Walnut St, Ashland PA 17921. A viewing for family and friends will be from 9:30-11:00 AM prior to services at the church. Burial will follow services at St. Joseph Cemetery (New) in Ashland.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Mary Dolores’ memory to St. Charles Borromeo Memorial Fund, 1115 Walnut St, Ashland PA 17921.

Helen C. Anthony, 92, former Frackville and Fountain Springs resident, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, with family by her side, at her home in Whitehall.

Helen C. Anthony, 92, former Frackville and Fountain Springs resident, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, with family by her side, at her home in Whitehall.
Born in Gilberton, February 26, 1931, she was the daughter of John and Anna Yonalunas Butswinkie. Helen graduated from the former Gilberton High School, class of 1948. She worked alongside her husband, Mike, when an extra pair of hands was needed at the former Anthony’s Supermarket, Frackville. She was a member of the former Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church, Gordon. Helen was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the America’s – Count St. James 1029, Frackville Senior Citizens, the former Fountain Springs Country Club Auxiliary, and the Frackville Ladies of the Elks. Most of all, Helen was a loving wife of 72 years, mother, and grandmother.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 1 PM, in the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Parish, 49 North Line St., Frackville. Monsignor Daniel J. Yenushosky, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Whitehall, will be the Celebrant.
