PennDOT has reduced the speed limits on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill, Lebanon, and Luzerne Counties due to weather conditions.
As of 6:30am, Tuesday, the speed limits on Interstate 81 northbound and southbound between the Interstate 80 interchange in Luzerne County to the Interstate 78 interchange in Lebanon County have been reduced to 55 miles per hour. This includes the entire stretch of the Interstate in Schuylkill County
The updated speed limits have been posted in Schuylkill County on variable speed limit signs. Commercial vehicles are also restricted to the right lane in this area.
The areas of the Interstate near the Tremont and Ravine Exits are reported to be icy Tuesday morning. Traffic is creeping through this area due to slick roadways.
