A St. Clair man is wanted by Minersville Police on drug charges.
According to Minersville Police, on October 1st, 2023, around 10:10pm, Ptlm. Michael Layton-Herron was monitoring traffic near the intersection of Route 901 and Sunbury Street in the borough when he observed a black scooter run a steady red light at the intersection and travel east on Seltzer Highway.
Ptlm. Layton-Herron followed and made contact with the driver, David Botek, 43, of St. Clair. The officer reported Botek was fidgety, sweating profusely, and appeared to pick at his hands, consistent with methamphetamine consumption.
A check of Botek's record led to the finding that the registration did not belong to the scooter, and he did not possess a Class M license, and no valid insurance or inspection. Botek also told the officer that he was currently on State Parole for trafficking methamphetamine.
A search of the scooter and Botek led to the finding of a digital scale with methamphetamine residue on it, and an Altoid container was found on him containing an empty glassine baggie, and another glassine baggie containing a large quantity of a clear crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine.
The evidence was seized and field tested positive for methamphetamine. A preliminary weight of the drug was weighed at approximately 18.72 grams.
On October 2nd, Minersville Police filed charges against Botek for the incident and issued a warrant for his arrest. Botek is facing charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, fraudulent use of a registration plate, and traffic violations.
As of this posting, Minersville Police are seeking Botek's whereabouts.
Anyone with information on Botek is asked to contact the Minersville Police Department by calling (570) 544-6212.
