Depending on how you look at it, Ashland could have been on Santa's naughty or nice list after a coal truck dumped a load down Centre Street on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 8:15am, when the driver of a coal truck from Fox Coal Co. Trucking LLC, was traveling east on Centre Street and began to lose its load of coal from its back gate.
Centre Street was covered in coal for 14 blocks stretching from 17th Street (near Turkey Hill) to 3rd Street/Hoffman Boulevard.
Ashland Police had the truck driver pulled over in the 200 Block of Centre Street with State Police arriving a short time with their motor carrier enforcement unit.
Ashland Fire Chief Phil Groody, Borough Manager Ray Jones, and PennDOT will also at the scene assessing the scene and working with nearby coal companies to help clear the street.
