A man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on arson charges after a domestic incident in Barnesville on Wednesday.
Joseph Dabashinky, 37, of Barnesville, has been charged with multiple counts of criminal attempt to commit arson, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment in relation to the incident that occurred on Wednesday in Barnesville, Ryan Township.
According to court papers filed by the Pennsylvania State Police, on Wednesday, just after 5:30 pm, emergency personnel, including fire, EMS, and police, were dispatched to 21 Oak Street for a report of an active domestic incident with fire.
Within minutes of the dispatch, State Police were at the scene and spoke with a woman who stated her husband, Dabashinsky, had intentionally cut wires in their home and stated he was going to burn the house down. Dabashinsky had fled the scene prior to the police arriving.
Ryan Township Fire arrived at the scene and found no active fire but deemed the situation at high risk for fire due to the cut electrical lines. PPL was called and shut the power off to the home.
Upon speaking with the woman, troopers learned that she had recently filed a PFA against Dabashinsky, and when he found out, he became enraged. Dabashinsky then proceeded to cut wires and make threats.
Dabashinsky made the threats in front of other adults and juveniles who were in the house at the time.
An arrest warrant was issued for Dabashinsky, and late Thursday he was taken into custody.
On Thursday evening, he was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker on the charges listed above and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $100,000 straight cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on December 20th, 2023, in Frackville.
