A fire in Minersville on Friday has been ruled accidental.
At 2:30pm, Friday, emergency personnel were dispatched the 500 Block of North Delaware Avenue, Minersville for a structure fire.
The first personnel arrived to find flames showing from the front of the apartment at 528 North Delaware. Police arrived and advised of a working fire and a 2nd alarm was issued calling in additional help.
The occupants of the apartment were not home at the time and their apartment sustained heavy fire damage. The fire was brought under control within about an hour.
The nearby apartments at 524, 526 and 530 all sustained minor damage.
According to Minersville Police Patrolman Jeffrey Bowers, on Saturday morning, Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Joseph Hall was on scene with Minersville Police and Deputy Fire Chief O'Brien and Fire Chief Eric Eichenberg to determine a cause.
The cause was ruled accidental after it was determined that the fire started in an electrical outlet in the front room. The outlet reportedly caught fire due to a dorm-sized refrigerator that was plugged into an outlet directly above on the second floor.
