A Pottsville man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on drug charges after a bust on Thursday.
On December 14, 2023, law enforcement agencies including the Pennsylvania State Police Troops L and M, Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office, Drug Task Force, Pottsville City Bureau of Police, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration joined forces for a major drug operation in Pottsville.
This joint investigation resulted in the execution of three Court-Authorized Search and Seizure Warrants on various locations within the City of Pottsville.
The operation targeted the illegal activities of a suspect identified as Dylan Joseph Ciappa, a 44-year-old resident of Pottsville.
During the executed searches, law enforcement seized substantial amounts of contraband, including:

- Over $5,000 in Bulk United States Currency
- Approximately 454 grams of suspected marijuana with an estimated street value exceeding $2,500.
- Over 5 pounds of methamphetamine valued at more than $113,000.
- Quantities of cocaine
- A significant amount of psilocybin mushrooms
Ciappa was taken into custody as a result of the operation.
He faces a series of charges including:
- Possession With the Intent to Deliver (three counts: methamphetamine, marijuana, and psilocybin mushrooms).
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (four counts: methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, and psilocybin mushrooms).
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
- Dealing in Proceeds of Unlawful Activities.
Ciappa failed to make bail and was subsequently remanded to the Schuylkill County Prison.
