Mildred Maureen Koch, 83, of Tamaqua, died on Monday, December 11, 2023, at home. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Koch, Jr. to whom she was married 42 years at the time of his death in 2014.
Born on December 17, 1939, Mildred was a daughter of the late Raymond P. and Lillian B. (Schillo) Hosler. She attended Tamaqua schools and was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua. Mildred loved animals and Christmas.
She is survived by a son, Bruce Behler of Tamaqua; daughters, Tammy Eroh and her husband David of Coaldale and Adeana Sakusky of Oneida; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Mildred was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Schuetrum and a brother, Raymond Hosler.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 15, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Cindy White officiating.
Interment in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown will follow services. Viewing 9-11 AM on Friday at the funeral home.

John Scott “Jack” Ferryman, 71, of Allentown, died on Monday, December 11, 2023, at home.
Born in Coaldale on September 21, 1952, he was a son of the late Partick K. Ferryman and Virginia (Wood) Ferryman McClure and stepson of the late Richard McClure. A 1970 graduate of Marian High School, Jack was a tow truck driver and collision estimator for Supreme Autobody for over 40 years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Towing Association for which he served as treasurer for over 20 years and had been a vice-president. When not working, Jack could be found watching Jeopardy, doing crossword puzzles, or just enjoying a good cigar. He was also a bit of a bibliophile. An outdoor man, Jack loved camping at Mauch Chunk Lake Park. He made occasional appearances in front of the camera on the TV series “Forensic Files”. Jack was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
He is survived by sons, Sean Ferryman of Palmerton and Todd Ferryman of Whitehall; stepdaughter, Jennifer Loch of Allentown; grandson, Kyle Ferryman of Jim Thorpe; companion, Debra Browning; brother, Patrick Ferryman of New England Valley; and several nephews and nieces.
Jack was predeceased by a son, Christopher Ferryman and a brother, Todd Ferryman.
Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, December 18, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in St. Jerome Cemetery will follow the services. Call 4-6 PM on Sunday and 9-10 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Brenda Jean Fidler, 61, died Sunday, December 3, at her home in Reading.
Born in Pottsville on November 25, 1962, she was the daughter of Verna Fidler, Summit Station, PA, and of the late Guy E. Fidler.
Brenda was the wife of the Rev. David R. Brumbaugh. They were married at Trinity United Church of Christ, Holland, PA, on May 16, 1998.
Brenda was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School and the Pottsville School of Nursing as an LPN. Throughout her professional career Brenda was employed by Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Berks County; Assurance Health, Hudson, Ohio; J.C. Penney, Summit County, Ohio; Colonial Lodge, Lancaster County; The Reading Hospital and Medical Center/Tower Health Systems, Berks County; Pleasant View Retirement Community, Lancaster County; Phoebe Berks Health Care, Berks County; Berks Heim, Berks County; Riverside Chiropractic and Vitality, Bucks County; Willow Ridge, Bucks County; and Greenview Nursing Home, Schuylkill County. Brenda worked as a floor LPN, medical records director, director of nursing, marketing liaison, and utilization review specialist.
Growing up, Brenda had been a member of St. Paul’s Summer Hill United Church of Christ, Auburn, PA. She was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Barto, PA, where her husband, David Brumbaugh is the pastor.
In addition to her mother and husband, Brenda is survived by her brother, Guy Fidler, husband of Nancy Fidler, of Orwigsburg; and a niece, Emily Repka, wife of Mark Repka, of Bellefonte, PA; and
her brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Brumbaugh and his wife, Dr. Lisa Drake, of Coral Gables, Florida.
A Celebration of Life worship service will take place in memory of Brenda on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St. Paul’s Summer Hill United Church of Christ, 1235 Summer Hill Road, Auburn, PA, with family greeting from 10 AM – 11 AM, and the service of celebration beginning at 11 AM with the Rev. Ken McDowell officiating. Interment will take place at Summer Hill Cemetery immediately following the worship service. A hot buffet lunch will be served by Hess Catering in the fellowship hall of St. Paul’s UCC after the interment service. All who attend the worship service are invited to the lunch.
At the request of the family, contributions in Brenda’s memory can be given to the St. Paul’s Summer Hill UCC memorial fund, 1235 Summer Hill Road, Auburn, PA 17922.

Charlie Stevens Jr., 79, of Pottsville, passed away peacefully on Monday morning in his residence with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Spartanburg, S.C., on January 6, 1944, he was the son of the late Charlie and Mattie (Claiborne) Stevens, Sr.
He was a graduate of Carter High School, Spartanburg, S.C.
Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an MP in the 82nd Airborne.
He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Allentown, where he served as a deacon and also, the Masonic Lodge, Coatesville, PA.
Charlie was a district manager at NAPA Filters for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Stevens in 2000; son, Kevin J. and nine siblings.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Harris), to whom he was married 19 years; daughters: Danell P. Perkins, wife of Shawn, of Myrtle Beach, SC; Yolanda Harris, of Wilkes Barre; and Audra Harris, of CA; sons: Craig A. Stevens, husband of Sarah, of Myrtle Beach, SC; Russell Harris, of Pittston; and Lamont Harris, of Wilkes Barre; sister, Priscilla Mack, wife of Gregory, of MD; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Pastor Benjamin Hailey officiating.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
Interment with military honors will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Mr. Gurney Thomas Ossman, age 58, of Florence, Indiana was born on September 4, 1965 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Gurn was the son of the late, Thomas Arthur and Joanne Louise (Morris) Ossman. He was raised in Williamstown (Dayton), Pennsylvania and was a 1984 graduate of William Valley High School.
At a young age, Gurn could be found at Meadowbrook Coal Company under the watchful eyes of his mentors, his father, Tom, and Leslie Kimmel. It was there Gurney learned his work ethic and skills of operating heavy equipment and driving truck.
Gurney and Kelly Krise were blessed with three children, Brandon, Nicole and Erik.
Gurney was later united in marriage on September 10, 1999 to Dawn Marie Naylor in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. The couple shared 19 years together and was blessed with four children. As a young adult, Gurney was employed for Meadowbrook Coal Company in Lykens, Pennsylvania for several years. He was a plant manager foreman and later opened a plant in Ghent, Kentucky where he worked from 2001-2017. Gurney's dream was to own his own business with his children and for his children to work smarter and not as hard as he worked. He instilled his hard work ethic into his children. Gurney owned and operated Ossman Firewood in Williamstown and later in Florence, Indiana at his homestead for several years. Gurney was so proud to work alongside his daughter, Megan for the last several years. Megan took great care of Gurney and helping with anything that he needed, even putting up with his stubbornness and shenanigans. Gurney and his family resided in the Switzerland County community since 2001. He was a member of the National Federation of Independent Business and attended Vevay Assembly Church. Gurney was one of a kind and loved working, shooting guns and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved animals, especially his dog, Mia and had a deep love for his black Chevy truck! Gurney passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at his residence in Florence, Indiana.
Gurney is survived by his children, Brandon Ossman and his wife, Aleah of Greensboro, NC, Nicole Green and her husband, Ryan of Lykens, PA, Erik Ossman and his wife, Morgan of Tremont, PA, Shannon Rosales and her husband, Christian of Vevay, IN, Megan Stepp of Vevay, IN, Morgan Gillespie and her husband, Keith of Farmington, NM and Kacie Harris and her husband, Alex of Vevay, IN; his grandchildren, Freya, Felicity, Skylor, Camron, Chevy, Shyla, Bruin, Brylan, Logan, Erik Jr., Levi, Lydia, Bryce, Logan, Mya and Kinsley; his brother, Thomas "Tommy" Ossman and his wife, Gayle of Klingerstown, PA; his nephew, Zachary Ossman and his wife, Lauren; his niece, Amy Ossman and his special friends, Tim Miller, Casey Jones and his wife, Mary Ann, Leslie Jones and his wife, Missy, Scott Cecco and Frankie Sigmon, as well as his childhood friends Rich Hubler, Scott Nice, Denny and Troy Bixler and Leonard Krise.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Arthur Ossman, died December 2, 1991; his mother, Joanne Louise (Morris) Ossman, died January 1, 2008; his grandson, Jayden Chase Rosales-Stepp, died December 27, 2011, and his sister, Grace M. Ossman, died June 10, 2012.
A Celebration of Gurney’s life will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 7:00 PM from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City. Visitation will be from 6-7 at the chapel.
