Mary "Dolly" Ahrensfield
, 90, of Pottsville, passed away on November 30th, 2023.

Mary spent her later days at the home of her nephew, Steve Moyer and his wife, Karen of Pottsville.

She was of the Christian Faith.

Born in Schuylkill Haven in 1933, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn (Kantner) and Lester Killian.

Dolly attended Schuylkill Haven schools and worked in the food and housekeeping services.

Dolly is the widow of Robert Ahrensfield.

She is survived by her sister, Charlotte "Rose" Galuska; son, David, husband of Crystal Walk of Shawnee, OK; son, Keiff, husband of Cindy Walk of Barnesville; stepson Robert Ahrensfield of Schuylkill Haven; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Dolly was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Killian, Frank Killian, Raymond Killian, William Killian, Kenneth Killian; sisters, Sylvia Moyer and Kathryn Bowers; son, Thomas Tobin; granddaughter, Cristal Walk; and great grandson, Logan Walk.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Anthony J. Bobbin, 75, of Allentown, passed away on December 13, 2023, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown.

Born in Shenandoah on November 5, 1948, he was the son of the late Albert and Sophie (Gawrylik) Bobbin.

Tony was a 1966 graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School and then went on to Stevens Trade School. He worked many years as an electrical maintenance serviceman in the steel industry. Besides his job, he was also a handyman at home. Tony was a classic car enthusiast and liked to ride his motorcycle. He was an adventurous man, having enjoyed scuba diving and sky diving.

Besides his parents, Tony was preceded by a sister, Ann Joyce Bobbin in 2020,and a brother, Michael Francis Bobbin.

Surviving family includes his wife of 47 years, Marianne (Kutskiel) Bobbin, his daughter- Jennifer Holland with her husband Richard of New York, New York, his 2 sisters- Susan Mary Bobbin of Shenandoah and Mary Swies with her husband Paul of Frackville, and his grandson, Ronan.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 19th from 9 to 11am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be held at 11am and will be officiated by Deacon Jack Quirk. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the: Hillside SPCA in Pottsville, 51 SPCA Rd, Pottsville, PA 17901.

Catherine Lulu Cullen, 87, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday, December 10th, at her home. 

Catherine was born in Minersville, Pa. on June 14, 1936, a daughter of the late Catherine (Prendergast) Dullard and William P. Dullard. 

She was the widow of John E. Cullen who died January 25, 2018. 

In addition to her parents, and her husband John, she was preceded in death by a son, William Brian Cullen, on February 8, 2014, as well as brothers Patrick and John Dullard. 

Catherine is survived by a daughter, Colleen B Eldredge, and a son, John “J.C.” Cullen. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. 

All services shall be announced at later date.

Francis A. “Frank” Cordeiro, Jr.
,78, of Tamaqua, died at home on Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was the husband of Sylvia A. (Nahf) Cordeiro with whom he celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on October 22, 2023. 

Born in Tiverton, Rhode Island on September 3, 1945, Frank was the son of the late Francis and Evelyn (Souza) Cordeiro. He served in the Navy during the 1960s and was a truck driver who had been employed by the Walhunt Trucking Company. Frank was a member of The Parish of St. John XXIII. 

In addition to his wife, Sylvia, he is survived by sisters, Elsie Arruda of Fall River, MA and Rose Affonso of Swansea, MA. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in St. Jerome Cemetery, Lombard Street will follow the services. Call from 10-11 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Walter G. "Wally" Coleman
, husband, father, brother, pop, 74 years of age of Tuscarora, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Salisbury Twp..

Born Wednesday, August 3, 1949 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania the son of the late Caleb George, and Margaret (Arndt) Coleman.

Surviving are; his beloved wife of 54 years, Sally (Warananvage) Coleman; son, Ronald M. Coleman and his wife Sharon; grandson, Alex Coleman and his wife Kaila; sisters, Cheryl L. Dixon and Sarah Wargo wife of Michael;

Wally attended Tamaqua Area Schools, and was a miner having worked at the #9 mines for over 40 years, retiring this past July from Lehigh Anthracite Coal Company. A car enthusiast, Wally restored a 1967, and 1969 Mustang with his son Ron, and was working on a 1935, and 1939 Dodge. He and Sally enjoyed car shows, and spending time on the Susquehanna River in the summer at their camper. Grandson Alex and his wife Kaile were very special to Wally. A longtime member of the Tuscarora Fire Company, Wally served as Fire Chief for 15 years.

Dianne M. Morrell
, 65, of Williamstown, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023 at UPMC-Harrisburg.

Dianne was born in Harrisburg, December 24, 1957, a daughter of the late Ronald and Marva Zerbe Paul. She was a 1975 graduate of Williams Valley High School.

She was last employed by AMP, Inc., Williamstown.

She enjoyed painting, and working in her flower beds. Above all else, Dianne will remembered for her love for her children.

Surviving are her son, John Lewis III, Williamstown; her daughter Kelly Sullivan and her husband Jayson, Vero Beach, Florida; a granddaughter, Bella Sullivan, Florida; a sister, Wanda Caster and her husband Brent, Williamstown; two brothers, Ronald Paul and his wife Donna, and Robert Paul, both of Williamstown; several nieces and nephews.

Following Dianne's wishes, there will be no formal services.

William E. Carl, Jr.
, 85, of Valley View, was called by his King and risen Savior to his eternal home on December 14, 2023, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Born on September 8, 1938, in Fountain, PA, Bill was the oldest child of William E. Carl, Sr. and Blanche Huntzinger Carl.

Bill, a 1956 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, was a lefty pitcher and outfielder for his high school baseball team under the reigns of Coach Zeigler. He also played ball on the Hegins Town Team. After graduation, Bill worked briefly at Hegins Mining Company until 1959 when he enrolled at Williamsport Technical Institute where he earned a certificate in bookkeeping in January 1961. He returned to Hegins Mining Company where he served as bookkeeper until November 1961 when he was drafted by the US Army during the Vietnam War. Private Carl E-4 served in Ankara, Turkey, serving in Communications in June 1962. He returned home in September 1963 after his father became ill to run the business. He received his Honorable Discharge from the Army shortly thereafter.

In the spring of 1964, he started coaching the Hegins Teeners with A. Donald Buffington. Under their direction, Hegins was the Western Division Teener Champs in 1966, 1969, 1970, 1973, 1974, 1976, and 1978. Hegins won the Schuylkill League Teener Title in 1967, 1968, 1969, and 1976. His greatest accomplishment was when the Schuylkill West All-Star team clinched the VFW State Championship in August 1970, the first team ever from Schuylkill County to achieve this distinction.

Bill continued coaching the Hegins Teeners up until 1979. Although he stepped out of the coaches box, he remained an instrumental figure with the Hegins Teeners organization for nearly 20 years, serving as a Treasurer.

Since his retirement from Hegins Mining Company in 2011, Bill spent most of his time watching sports or attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was the utmost devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan and also cheered on the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Football teams, and enjoyed NASCAR racing.

Within the community, Bill was very active as a lifelong member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins, where he served as former Administrative Board President, Treasurer, Trustee, usher, food closet volunteer. He was actively involved with the Hegins Park Association serving as past park treasurer and performing general park maintenance. He was a former coach of the Valley View Red Sox Little League Baseball team. Bill was one of the original organizers of the Hegins Midget Football Team. He also served on the Tri-Valley School Board in the early 1980's. Bill was a lifetime member of the Hegins VFW Post 8237. In 2011, the Hegins Valley View Rotary Club awarded him Citizen of the Year for his civic contributions. In 2022, the Hegins Park Association named the Hegins Teener ball field The William Carl, Jr. Baseball field in recognition of his love for baseball and the community

Bill is survived by his wife Patricia Miller of Hegins whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage and their three children - Debra Romberger, wife of Clark, of Valley View; Brian Carl, and wife Wendy of Red Lion, and Brad Carl, and wife Karen of Hegins, and 6 grandchildren, Kelly and Emily Romberger of Valley View, Garrett and Allison Carl of Red Lion, Brenden and wife Madison of Hegins, and Ryder Carl, Hegins and 2 great grandchildren, Kaden and Kenna. Siblings Sandra Stutzman, Elizabeth "Bette" Scheib, and Daniel Carl of Hegins. Brother in-laws Robert Miller of Oregon and David Miller and wife Lora of Woodbridge, VA. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins, on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl and Rev.William Danis officiating.

A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the church.

Burial with Military Honors will in St. John's Cemetery, Hegins.

Nancy C. Elser, 81, of New Ringgold, passed away Thursday, December 14th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

There will be an evening visitation from 5 - 8 PM on Wednesday, December 20th at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, PA.

Services & Interment will be private.

Harriet F. Hoffman
, beloved wife, mother, grammy, sister, 75 years of age, of 3 Medical Crossing Road Tamaqua, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Center in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

Born Monday, October 4, 1948 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Irvin, and Florence (Dampman) Bennage.

Surviving are; her husband of 55 years, Raymond Charles Hoffman; son, Stephen W. Hoffman and his partner Heather Shamonsky of New Ringgold; daughters, Susan L. Fannock of Tamaqua, Christine L. Rex and her husband, Neil of Andreas; brothers, Samuel Bennage of Fort Wayne, IN, David Bennage and his partner Gloria Patskan of Hazleton; sisters, Carol Bennage of Tamaqua, Karen Basiago and her husband, John of Summit Hill; grandchildren, Ryan, Abbey, and Jayden; great grandchild, Tyson. Many nieces and nephews also survive Harriet.

A 1966 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Harriet was a Majorette in the High School Drum & Bugle Corp. A member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Tamaqua, Harriet retired from the former J.E. Morgan Knitting Mill, and had previously worked at the former Jamesway Department Store in Tamaqua. She was also a Tupperware consultant for many years. An avid reader, Harriet cherished the role of grammy and was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
