Joseph T. Powanda, age 59, of Port Carbon, PA passed away Sunday, December 17th, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pottsville.Born in Pottsville, PA on December 15, 1964, he was the son of the late Michael and Marie (Pomian) Powanda.
Joe was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, Class of 1983. He was a member of the Mechanicsville Fish and Game and the Goodwill Fire Company in Port Carbon. Joe loved building model cars, fishing, hunting, shooting pool and darts, and going golfing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Thomas and George Powanda and a nephew Daniel Mason
Joe is survived by his fiance' Sandy Kerby, Middlleport; brothers: Michael Powanda Jr. and his wife Frances, CA, Dennis Powanda, Pottsville, and Mark Powanda and his wife Bonnie Williams; a sister Jean Marie Smerlick and her husband Dave, Orwigsburg; his Godson Richard Klare, Klingerstown; his best buddy Rocco; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service at the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Saint Clair at 11AM on Friday, December 29th, with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating.

Reginald “Reggie” Edwards also affectionately known as Squirrel, passed away at the age of 70, in Pottsville, PA on Monday December 11, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Reggie was born on August 28, 1953, in Charlotte, NC. He was a son of the late Lottie Mae Edwards and the late Willie Darby. He graduated from Harding University High School, in Charlotte; and joined the United States Army in 1974, where he served as a combat engineer. After the military, Reggie worked as a truck driver for several years; and was last employed as a shipping supervisor at Cardinal Systems in Schuylkill Haven.
Reggie worshipped at the Church of Broken Pieces, Minersville, PA where he also was a Deacon and Head of the Usher Board. He also volunteered for many years at the Schuylkill County Senior Community Centers, Diakon Community Services for Seniors meals on wheels program, and served on the Schuylkill Community Action Board of Directors.
Reggie was an avid sports fan; he loved his Philadelphia teams, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. His main hobbies were fishing and baseball.
In the 70 years that Reggie lived, he was so many things to so many people. He was a son, a brother, a hero, a husband, a dad, a papa, an uncle, and a friend.
Reginald is survived by children, Travis Jeter, Jonathan Chriswell, Aaron Edwards, Alicia Edwards-Blackwell (spouse, Geoffrey), and Regina Edwards-Burhop, several 12 grandchildren, and 1 Great-GrandDaughter. He is also survived by his 2 sisters Gwynette Edwards-Newman (spouse Ray) and Marilyn Edwards-Camara (spouse Umar. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He will be missed by many.
The family respectfully invites relatives and friends to attend funeral services on Saturday, December 23, at the Church of broken Pieces, 41 North Front Street, Minersville, with military honors rendered immediately before the service. Dutcavich Funeral Home has charge.
