David Houtz, 62, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Tuesday, December 26th, at his residence.

Born in Pottsville, on January 25, 1961, a son of the late Jean (Corby) and Clyde E. Houtz.

He was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, class of 1979

David is survived by his son David Houtz husband of Krysta Halye, Drexel Hill, a daughter Amy Houtz, Pottsville, granddaughter Emma Lazarchick; sister Marie Spiess, Schuylkill Haven and a brother Donald Houtz, Pottsville

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 4th at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home in Cressona.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Larry Joe Kaufman
, 76, Gordon, passed away peacefully at Pottsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Tuesday, December 26th.

Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Anna “Betty” and Burd Kaufman.

Larry Joe is survived by his son Bradley Kaufman, Ashland; his two sisters: Sandra Kaufman-Lentes and her husband Bob, Ashland; Janice Kaufman Keller and her husband Brian, Ashland; his grand-daughter, Haleigh Kaufman; his companion, Mary Kaufman and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions can be made, in Larry’s name, to the Simpson United Methodist Church at 119 Biddle St. Gordon, PA 17936.

Carrie Catherine Rollman
, 31, of St. Clair, passed away Wednesday December 20, 2023, at LVHN – Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Pottsville, October 27, 1992, She was a daughter of the late Joseph J. Rollman and Beth (Lewis) Rollman of St. Clair.

She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair.

In addition to her father, Joseph J. Rollman she was preceded in death by brother Joseph H. Rollman.

Surviving in addition to her mother, Beth Rollman are 2 sons Dylan Hepner; Eyan Hepner; brother Michael Rollman of St. Clair; companion Charles Faust of New Philadelphia, Numourous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Carrie’s passion was being a loving mother to her boys. She enjoyed the outdoors and animals, especially her cats.

Memorial Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Beth Rollman, c/o Hart Funeral Home 110 N. Second St. St. Clair, PA 17970 in order to set up an education fund for her boys.

Irene F. Mistysyn
, 97, of St., St. Clair, died Friday December 22, 2023, at her Residence.

Born in Wilkes Barre, January 31, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Garbish) Koopinetz.

Irene retired from the former St. Clair Garment Company where she was a trimmer for many years.

She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair, and a member of the ILGWU.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Peter Sweat in 1955 and her second husband John Mistysyn in 1971, 5 brothers Paul Kopinetz, Michael Kopinetz, Charles Kopinetz, Walter Kopinetz, Jospeh Kopinetz; 3 sisters Mary Lundy, Caroline Koltura, Frances Hood.

Surviving are 3 sons; John Sweat and his wife Patricia of Schuylkill Haven; Walter Mistysyn and his wife Marie of Mill Creek; Thomas Mistysyn of, St. Clair; 7 Grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will private and at the convenience of family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s’ Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.

Michael A. Gaverick
, 59, Frackville passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 26th.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of Jeanette Gaverick Semasek of Frackville and the late John Gaverick.

Gav was employed as the automotive manager at the former Sears and had a great passion for the automotive industry. He had a 1955 Canary Yellow Chevy that was one of his greatest joys in life especially when he would be cruising to “Low Rider.”

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, John Gaverick, Ashland; his two sisters: Diane Pavalko and Lori Sugulia, both of Frackville; he is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd at 12 noon from St. Joseph the Worker Parish (St. Ann’s Church) with Rev. Giuseppe Esposito, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends are invited to his viewing at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of mass. Interment will follow mass at Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Frackville.

Anthony Stephen Gaburick
, 84, of Primrose, Cass Township, passed away on Christmas evening at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Primrose, he was a son of the late John and Kathryn (nee Hardock) Gaburick. He was a 1958 graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School; and studied business administration at the Ford School of Business. He was a representative of Dietz & Watson for 37 years.

Tony was a loving husband and very caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He has been our pillar of strength, our protector, and was always been everyone’s best friend.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville. Widely known as “The French Fry Guy”, he was a long-time concessionaire at high school football games at Cass Township, Minersville, Pottsville and Nativity.

Tony is survived by his wife, the former Anne Mae Williams, with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage last Friday; three children, Jane Gaburick Baker, wife of Edward, Pottsville, Susan Gaburick Eckley, wife of Brian, Pottsville, and Anthony John Gaburick, Primrose; his grandchildren, Matthew Eckley, Jayne Eckley, David Baker, husband of Gabrielle, and Emilie Baker; a great grandchild, Brooks Baker. He is also survived by two siblings, John Gaburick, husband of Natalie, Timonium, MD, and Jane Yourey, widow of Ronald Yourey, Minersville; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Friday from 6:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 6:00 A.M. until 9:15 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions to St. John the Baptist Church are preferred.

Edward C. “Red” Bulchie, 80 of Shenandoah passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Shenandoah on June 26, 1943, he was the son of the late Peter and Stella (Morris) Bulchie.

For twenty-five years he was employed as the manager for the former Napa Auto Parts, Shenandoah. He retired from Jeld-Wen, Ringtown.

Ed was a former member of St. Casimir Church, Shenandoah.

Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Kozlosky with whom he celebrated thirty-three years of marriage on December 14th; son, Brian Bender and his wife Kristen of Ringtown; daughter, Sheila Martin and her husband Jason of Flourtown; five grandchildren, Christian Bender, Zachary Chowansky, Joshua Chowansky, Jaxson Chowansky and Logan Martin.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Joann E. Woodward
, 70, of Ashland passed away Tuesday December 26th at home.

Born on October 25,1953 in Danville she was the daughter of the late Ann (Hartenstein) and Richard S. Enterline.

Joann was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Ashland.

She was the wife of Francis “Frank” C. Woodward they were married October 20, 1984.

Joann graduated from North Schuylkill High School in 1971. She went on to attend and graduate from Mansfield University, Wilkes University and Bloomsburg University to obtain her Master’s Degree in Education.

Joann was a special education teacher for Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 and North Schuylkill School District where she worked most of her career. Since her retirement she currently worked for Concept Medical in Ashland.

She was a member of Mu Zeta. Joann was very active and involved with the Ashland Public Library where she served on the board of directors.

Joann is survived by; husband Frank Woodward, Ashland; son Christopher Woodward (Bethany Varano), Mechanicsburg; son Andrew Woodward (Megan), Lavelle; brother Richard “Rick” J. Enterline (Teresa), New Cumberland; sister Deborah Enterline (James Baglin), Jim Thorpe; 3 grandchildren Tressa Jane, Lincoln & Declan; many nieces and nephews.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday December 29, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1115 Walnut St, Ashland PA 17921. Services will begin at 11:00 AM in church with Rev. Giuseppe Esposito officiating. Interment will be private at the family’s request.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joann’s memory to Ashland Public Library, 1229 Centre St, Ashland PA 17921.

Dorothy Glinski, age 79, of Shenandoah, PA, died peacefully in her sleep Christmas Night, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, John S. Glinski, and is survived by her only son, John A. Glinski.

Dorothy was born in the winter of 1944, to Andrew and Mary Lucas. After a brief stint in the convent and having jobs in everything from libraries to car factories, she found her husband on the church steps, and they were married shortly after. She never accepted the way things were, and carved her own path forward, anchored on the twin beliefs of a higher power, and the goodness of other people.

After traveling the world with her family, her and John settled outside of Philadelphia to be closer to her son and his wife, Bridget.

She will be greatly missed by not only her family, but countless friends she made along the way.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 29th from 8:00 to 9:30am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am in Divine Mercy Parish, 218 W. Cherry St, Shenandoah and will be officiated by Msgr. Ronald Bocian. Burial will immediately follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery in Shenandoah Heights.
