Verizon Offers $5,000 Reward for Information on Stolen Copper Phone Lines in Schuylkill and Northumberland Counties
The Pennsylvania State Police have reported that troopers from the Frackville Barracks are currently investigating the theft of over 600 feet of Verizon copper phone lines in Schuylkill County.
The stolen lines were taken directly from utility poles, which were hung 20 feet in the air along Old 209 Road in Schuylkill Township. The estimated value of the stolen lines is approximately $10,000. Local law enforcement is actively participating in the ongoing investigation.
Verizon has announced a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in connection with the theft.
In addition to the monetary value of the stolen phone lines, the theft has resulted in service delays, impacting public safety and incurring thousands of dollars in damages.
Similar incidents have been reported in West Penn Township and Foster Township in Schuylkill County, as well as Coal Township in Northumberland County.
