Attended by 30 fellow firefighters, the event recognized McFadden's commitment to community safety.
Joining the fire department on May 4th, 1963, McFadden climbed the ranks, holding numerous positions throughout his years, and retiring as an assistant chief on December 31st, 2023.

During this time, he was also a member of the Washington Ambulance where he is said to have responded to thousands of ambulance calls as well as served as a board member of the organization.
Over the years, McFadden has also received many accolades from borough organizations, including "Citizen of the Year" in 2013 by the Ashland Elks and Firefighter of the Year in 2020 by the Ashland VFW.
McFadden received a proclamation during the council meeting Wednesday, acknowledging his roles as Assistant Fire Marshal and Fire Marshal. The council praised his dedication to the department and the community.

Council President Pat Cooney read the proclamation which stated "Ashland Borough Council acknowledges the selfless contributions made by Mr. McFadden to the borough and its citizens. It congratulates him on his efforts wishes him well in the future."
President Cooney asked for a motion and council member Adam Bernodin Jr. stated, "I make a motion proudly for this gentleman".
Once the motion was accepted, McFadden was honored by everyone in attendance with a standing ovation.
When asked for a comment, McFadden simply said "Thank you".
