On Saturday, East Union Township Police Department successfully apprehended a wanted fugitive after a chase in Sheppton.
According to court documents, Sergeant Christopher Dimmick, along with Police Chief Thomas Rentschler, were on a surveillance operation near 5 Shepp Street when they spotted 34-year-old David Carpin, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants.
Carpin, a resident of West Pittston, was known to frequent the address with his girlfriend, Noelle Stitzer.
The scene unfolded around 10:00 PM when Chief Rentschler observed a white Chevrolet van parked in front of the residence. Shortly after, Carpin and Stitzer exited the property and entered the vehicle. Suspecting that Carpin might attempt to flee, Sgt. Dimmick quickly intervened, pulling behind the van as it headed north on Center St.
However, Carpin abruptly veered off the road into a parking lot at 982 Center St, where he and Stitzer exited the van in a hurry. As officers approached, Carpin fled on foot, darting behind nearby buildings and into a wooded area.
Despite repeated orders to stop, Carpin continued to evade capture, leading officers on a pursuit through the neighborhood.
