The championship game, held at a packed Martz Hall, marked the first and only meeting between the two of Schuylkill County's best teams this season.
Blue Mountain came into the game with a strong record of 20-2, while Mahanoy Area boasted an undefeated streak, standing at an impressive 24-0.
The game kicked off with Blue Mountain making an early statement with a 3-pointer from Tyeirre Meade. However, with the teams going back and forth Mahanoy Area maintained a slight edge as the first quarter ended with a score of Mahanoy Area 17, Blue Mountain 16.
The intensity only escalated as the game progressed. At halftime, Mahanoy Area held a 12-point advantage with a score of 37-25.
Despite Mahanoy Area's efforts to maintain their lead, Blue Mountain launched a fierce comeback in the fourth quarter. With just over seven minutes remaining, Blue Mountain narrowed the gap, trailing 49-45. The tension reached a boiling point as Blue Mountain continued to chip away at Mahanoy Area's lead, coming within one point at 52-51 with just over four minutes left on the clock.
However, Mahanoy Area displayed composure and determination down the stretch, regaining control of the game and ultimately securing a commanding victory with a final score of 66-51.
Jace Yedsena led the charge for Mahanoy Area with an impressive performance, contributing 22 points, including three 3-pointers and solid free-throw shooting. Kadin Styka and Tanner Zawada also delivered standout performances, scoring 15 and 11 points respectively.
