Irene S. Chaya, 93, of Fountain Springs, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 31st, at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.Irene was born in Mahanoy City, PA on May 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Helen (Gresh) and Joseph Szott.
Irene graduated from Mahanoy City High School Class of 1947 and McCann’s School of Business.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker parish Frackville, PA 17931.
Irene was a teller at American, Core States, and Meridian Bank, and Wells Fargo in Mahanoy City and the Frackville branch.
She loved to read, do puzzles and cook.
She was wife of the late Joseph J. Chaya Sr.
Irene is survived by a daughter, Nancy, wife of Thomas Baker, of Wyomissing PA; a son, Joseph J., husband of Lisa Chaya, of Audubon PA, a sister, Teresa Szott, of Ashland.
She is also survived by 2 grandchildren Elena and Olivia, nieces and nephews.
Irene is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Poreca.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Frackville, PA, at 11 AM on Friday, February 9th, with Rev. Giuseppe C. Esposito officiating and con celebrant Monsignor William Glosser.
Friends and family may call Friday 9:30 to 11 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Parish.
Interment will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.

Robert N. Woratyla, Sr., 79, of Sweet Arrow Lake Rd., passed away Sunday, January 28th, at his home.
Robert was born in Pottsville, Pa. on August 10, 1944, a son of the late Anna (Glinsky) and Anthony Woratyla. He was a machinist by trade working in the plastics industry.
Robert is survived by two sons Robert N Woratyla Jr., and Ronald K Woratyla . Robert is also survived by two brothers, William Woratyla, and Michael Woratyla.
Also surviving are his Grandchildren; Samantha Lynn Komrosky, and Craig Woratyla, and Great grandchildren, Hayden and Ryan Komrosky.
A Visitation will be held 9:00:00 to 11:00 AM on Monday, February 5th at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc. in Minersville. Interment at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery Hillside, Pottsville.
