George R. Kosar, “Junior”, 79, of Shenandoah, formerly of Mahanoy City, passed away Wednesday, February 14th, at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, Allentown.George was born in Girardville, PA on May 19, 1944, a son of the late Isabelle and George Kosar.
He attended local schools.
George served in the U.S. Army.
He had worked in construction for Laborers Union Local 1174 as a Mason Tender and general laborer.
He was a member of the Park Crest Fish and Game. He loved to hunt, fish and sitting by the camp fire. He was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Eagles, and local sports especially Shenandoah Valley.
He was the husband of Theresa (Peregrin) Kosar.
George is survived by two sons Ron Sr., husband of Mary Beth, of Zion Grove; George, husband of Marsha, of Shenandoah Heights; a sister, Barbara, wife of Walter Marcinkowski, of Arizona, and by 4 Grandchildren, Ron Jr., Sadie and her fiancé Ty Painter, Evan, and Owen, nieces and nephews.

Edward J. Hoke, 72, of Pine Lane, Pine Grove, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Hospital, Bernville.
Born on February 1, 1952 in Donaldson, he was the son of the late James Edward and Pearl Irene Kroh Hoke.
He attended Tremont High School until his senior year when they merged with Pine Grove Area High School and graduated in 1970.
Edward was a Chipper Finisher for Post Precision Castings, Inc in Strausstown.
He was an avid dart shooter and in 2023, was inducted into the American Baseball Dart Wall of Fame. He was a Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan and was a social member of the North End Fire Co., Pine Grove.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Marie Hoke and Sandra Kroh Freeman.
Surviving are two sons, Jamie Hoke and husband Robert D. Miller, Justin Hoke and companion Chelsea Wetzel, both of Pine Grove; a granddaughter, Raurie Hoke; a sister Janice and husband George Gately of Primrose; a brother Mark Hoke and companion Betsy Moyer of Fredericksburg; nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services will be determined at a later date. Interment will be in the Donaldson Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, 18 Wertz Dr. Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in his memory.

Dorothy Ann Souchak, 95, of West West Terrace passed away peacefully Thursday February 8th surrounded by loving family, at her home.

Dorothy Ann Souchak, 95, of West West Terrace passed away peacefully Thursday February 8th surrounded by loving family, at her home.
Born in Pottsville, PA Dorothy lived her entire life in the Minersville area. She was the last of 8 siblings born to Eleanor (Bacca) and Modesto Barbacovi. Widow of Russell Souchak to whom she was married for 65 years. Doroty was a graduate of Minersville High School class of 1946 and an employee of H.D. Bobb Co. She was den mother of pack 100 in Llewellyn and member of St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church P.T.O. Along with her husband they owned and operated Degutis Pharmacy. They also were part owners of King Coal aviation at the Schuylkill County airport. Dorothy had a flair for life bringing endless joy to all around her even in her final years. She stated recently she would prefer her obituary to simply state "I died". She enjoyed bowling and visiting the casinos but she found the most joy spending time with her large and extended family.
In addition to her parents, siblings and husband she was preceded in death by son Brian in 1959. Along with grandsons Andrew Mullins and Conor Flanagan.
Dorothy is survived by 7 children. Russell, David husband of Tina, Timothy husband of Roxane, Linda Mullins, Michelle Flanagan, Darlene Nevada wife of James and Joseph. Dorothy is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer(Michael) Hossler, Brent(Janel) Martin, Matthew(Lauren) Souchak, Briana(Nicholas) Jones, Carson Nevada, James Nevada, Lauren Flanagan, Geoff(Katie) Heller, Ryan(Emani) Flanagan, Aaron Nevada, Devin Flanagan companion Michel Garcia and Nicholas Souchak. Along with 9 great grandchildren plus 3 on the way. Finally many nieces and nephews.
All are respectfully invited to attend a visitation from 8:30 to 10:00 am on Saturday February 24th at St. Nicholas Church in Minersville. A Requiem Divine Liturgy shall be celebrated at 10:00 am with Reverend Mark Fesniak officiating. Interment in St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic cemetery.
In lieu of flowers friends and relatives are asked to make a donation to the Saint Nicholas Church memorial fund. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville is entrusted with the arrangements.
