James W. Burkholder, 75, of Valley Road Tamaqua, PA, died February 22, 2024, at home in Walker Twp. Born December 26, 1948, son of late Titus K. and Elizabeth M. (Weaver) Burkholder.James was a bishop in the Richland District of the Eastern PA Mennonite Church and pastor of the New England Valley congregation at Tamaqua. He was by occupation a crop / poultry farmer and an electrician.
Preceded in death by his wife of forty-two years, Rachel G. (Hostetter) Burkholder whom he married March 28, 1970; two sisters, Ida Brubacker (Paul) of Carlisle, PA; Rachel Hursh (Earl Ray) of Middleburg, PA; and granddaughter Amanda Burkholder.
Survived by four daughters: Rhoda Zimmerman (Mitchell) of Pine Grove, PA; Martha Rudolph (Lee) of Mexico; Joanna Rudolph (Arlin) of Aspers, PA; Susanna Carpenter (Nathanael) of Bristol, GA; Eight sons: Nathan (Linda) of Tamaqua, PA; Samuel (Joyce) of Paraguay, South America; Mark (Lois) of Tamaqua, PA; Matthew (Keturah) of Guatemala, Central America; Andrew (Elizabeth) of Tamaqua, PA; Philip (Louise) of Tamaqua, PA; Timothy (Rebecca) of Tamaqua, PA; Daniel (Denise) of Warrensburg, MO; Seven sisters: Laverne Erb (Harry) of Scurry, TX; Vera Hege (Ira) of Hagerstown, MD; Mary Wenger (Clarence) of Manheim, PA; Sara Zimmerman (Roy) of New Holland, PA; Esther Sensenig (James) of Arcola, IL; Rhoda Martin (Dale) of Ephrata, PA; Miriam Nolt (Marlin) of Myerstown, PA; Four brothers: Eby (Ruth) of Ephrata, PA; Jesse (Mary Ellen) of Spring Mills, PA; David (Tracy) of Mifflinburg, PA; John (Anne) of Colby, WI; eighty-five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
Viewings will be held 2 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, New England Valley Mennonite Church, 1307 Valley Rd., Tamaqua, PA 18252, also 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 at Fairview Reception Ctr., 141 Jackson Rd., Lebanon, PA 17042.
Funeral Service will be held at Fairview Reception Ctr., 10 o'clock a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024.
Interment, New England Valley Church cemetery, Tamaqua, PA.

Helene M. Youskites, 96, of Ashland passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2024. She was born in Ashland on May 16, 1927 to John E. and Helena (Tappe) Gabel. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Helene graduated from Ashland High School in 1944 and worked as a bookkeeper for Ashland Shirt Company before her retirement. She and her husband, John, were founding members of the Northumberland Boat Club and enjoyed camping and boating on the Susquehanna River for many years. Helene also enjoyed crossword puzzles, Scrabble, Bunco, trips to the Poconos, and spending time with her family.
Helene was preceded in death by her husband, John, of 57 years; a daughter Judith; a sister Anna Beck; and two brothers Joseph Gabel and John Gabel; She was the last member of her immediate family and currently holds the family record for longest lifespan.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in St. Mauritius Cemetery in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 - 1942.

Robert P. Kuehn, 80, of Schuylkill Haven passed away Sunday while at Laurel Center Nursing Home in Hamburg.
Born January 22, 1944, in Pottsville, Robert was the son of the late Slade and Mary Cherrybon Kuehn.
Robert attended school in Cass Township. Robert retired from Combined Insurance Company where he was an insurance agent from 1992.
Robert was in several bands throughout the years in Schuylkill County. He enjoyed crafting with his wife. They would travel to shows and sell their products.
In addition to his parents Robert is preceded in death by his wife, the former Carolyn J. Otterbein Kuehn who passed away in 2016. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, James Kuehn, Barbara Craig, and Mary Kuehn.
Robert is survived by his sons, Rodney husband to Grace of Pottsville and Jeffrey, husband to Debbie of Orwigsburg. He is survived by his grandchildren, Jesse, Candi, Macy, Kyle, and great grandchildren, Ryon and Cameron. He is also survived by his sisters, Leona Wiles and Patricia Stabinsky and brother-in-law Francis Otterbein and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven at 10:30 A.M. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will follow services on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

James L. "Jim" Folk Sr., age 88, of Tamaqua, passed away Saturday at Laurel Center in Hamburg.
Born in New Ringgold he was the son of the late James and Elsie (Hill) Folk. He was a 1952 graduate of Tamaqua High School and served with the United States Army. He had been employed by the former Kaier's Brewery in Mahanoy City and last worked for and retired from Draper and Yost Inc. of Tamaqua after forty plus years of employment. He was preceded in death by his sisters Nancy Moerder and Sandra McGeehan and brothers Carl and Elwood Folk.
He is survived by his children James Folk Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Aiken, SC, Matthew Folk and his wife Susan of Schnecksville, Lori Folk-Barron and her husband Michael of Wallingford CT, David Folk and his wife Stacie of Barnesville and Donald Folk and his wife Heather of Quakertown, sisters Diane Boyer of New Ringgold, Ellen Stafiniak of Lehighton and Eilene Bowler of Reading, grandchildren Patrick, Amanda, Kristin, Jillian, Thomas, Ryan, Justin, Blake and Lexi.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Floyd L. Brothers, 86 of Rush Township, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at St. Luke's Carbon Campus in Lehighton, Pennsylvania.
Born Saturday, April 17, 1937 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Floyd was a son of the late Floyd Brothers and Leolia (Barnard) Brothers. He was predeceased by a daughter Janice Matrician, brothers Wornis and Raymond Brothers and his sisters Jean Coleman and Irma Jones. .
Floyd retired after 44 years as the shipping department manager at Altadis USA, formerly Consolidated Cigar. Lovingly called Pop Pop by his grandchildren, Floyd was a baseball fan.
He was the beloved husband of Geraldine (Carroll) Brothers for 58 years. Along with his wife, Floyd is survived by daughters, Linda Wade and Cheryl Brothers, brothers, Clifford Brothers and his wife, Betty, Dwight Brothers and his wife, Sandy and sisters, Dora Lee, Janice Brothers, Leolia Cherry and her husband, Dennis and Hilda Riddick; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
