The driver of a tractor trailer was flown with injuries after a crash on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County early Wednesday.
The incident occurred just after 1:45am, Wednesday when the driver of a tractor trailer lost control of his truck and rolled into the median near mile marker 127 in Ryan Township, approximately halfway between the Frackville and Mahanoy City exits.
Emergency personnel were originally dispatched to the scene at 1:52am. Ryan Township and Frackville were on the call and arrived to find the driver heavily entrapped.
Interstate 81 northbound would be closed at the Frackville exit and Mahanoy City West End's Heavy Rescue, along with Englewood Fire, and Altamont Fire would be added to the call to assist at the scene as well as help with traffic control.
Crews worked for nearly an hour before freeing the victim, who was then transported to the hospital via a helicopter that landed near the scene on the Interstate.
One northbound lane would later be opened after fire personnel cleared scene and the cleanup began.
