A crash Thursday evening knocked out power to parts of Butler Township.
The incident occurred just before 8:30pm when a Kia sedan struck a pole in the area of 835 Beaver Dam Road near Malones Road.
The crash knocked out power for a short period around the Gordon/Fountain Springs area. By 9:00pm, 89 PPL customers were reported to be without power. Power is expected to be restored by 11:30pm.
The initial dispatch for the crash involved a house fire from the live wires, but no fire was found when firefighters arrived.
Butler Township Police's Sgt. Vinskie reported that the 21-year-old driver was traveling west on Malones Road when a deer jumped out in front of him, causing him to swerve and hit the pole shearing it near its base.
The driver was evaluated by EMS from Washington Ambulance and reported no injuries.
Responding to the scene were Butler Township and Ashland Police, Washington Ambulance, Friendship Fire from Englewood and Fountain Springs and the Washington Rescue from Ashland.
