On Thursday, the Pottsville Crimson Tide faced off against the North Schuylkill Spartans at the Spartans' new home field. In a high scoring game, North Schuylkill would take the win 15-11.
Pottsville started strong, scoring two runs in the second inning and five more in the third. They added one run in the fourth and three in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Spartans'.
Leading the charge for Pottsville was Brody Hess, who scored two runs and contributed three RBIs. Luke Keitsock also had a strong performance with two runs and two RBIs, while Aidan Bierman and Marty Davis each scored two runs. Luke Schane Schane and Jacob Filiac added a run and an RBI, respectively, and Christian Alvarez contributed one RBI.
The North Schuylkill Spartans came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning, two in the second, four in the third, and four more in the fourth. They capped off their scoring with one run in the sixth.
Colin Stanakis led the Spartans' offense with four runs, while Jaxon Chowanky had a standout performance with two runs, five RBIs. Joey Cuthie added one run and one RBI, and Payton Groody contributed two RBIs. Nolan Ryan, Kevin Jones, Kolton Joyce, and Bryce Cuthie each scored a run, with Jones also adding an RBI.
On the mound, the Spartans' pitching duo of Kolton Joyce and Joey Cuthie combined for five strikeouts. Joyce struck out three, while Cuthie added two. For Pottsville, the pitching duties were shared by Aidan Bierman, Max Clews, and Dominic Rynard. Rynard managed to strike out two batters.
The loss brings Pottsville's record to 1-4 on the season, while the win puts North Schuylkill at 1-1. The Crimson Tide will look to bounce back in their next game, hosting Wilson at home on Saturday.
