A Pottsville man was taken into custody after a public urination incident led to a foot pursuit.
According to Minersville Police Sgt. Jeffrey Bowers, on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, around 11:00pm, Patrolman Leo Securda was dispatched to the 100 block of Sunbury Street for a report of an intoxicated male urinating in public.
Upon arrival, Patrolman Securda observed a man, later to be identified as Jamar Williams, 36, of Pottsville.
Patrolman Securda ran Williams' information through Schuylkill County Communications and learned he was a wanted fugitive on Federal charges.
When Patrolman Securda informed Williams that he was being detained, he fled on foot on Sunbury Street.
A foot chase ensued through the Borough Municipal Lot to a private driveway where Patrolman Securda deployed his taser and incapacitated Williams and took him into custody.
A further check of William' information showed he was wanted by Federal authorities from the United State Court/Middle District on a supervised released violation for an underlying offense of a weapon violation.
Williams was arraigned by on call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker on charges of resisting arrest, evading arrest, and disorderly conduct.
Williams was locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post the $25,000 straight cash bail set by Judge Kilker.
