A Pottsville woman is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after she assaulted a police officer after a domestic altercation.
At approximately 6:40 pm, officers arrived at the scene where Kristen Hunter, the complainant, informed them of ongoing disturbances involving her daughter, Miranda Richardson, aged 25. Hunter detailed a day filled with yelling and arguments, culminating in an altercation where Richardson allegedly threw an object at her mother.
Attempts to communicate with Richardson were met with resistance as she refused to cooperate with officers, resorting to insults and further agitation towards them.
Ignoring verbal instructions from law enforcement, Richardson proceeded to another room where her mother was located. Concerned for everyone's safety due to Richardson's erratic behavior, officers moved to detain her.
However, Richardson resisted arrest, kicking and flailing her arms to avoid being handcuffed. In the scuffle, Patrolman Fanelli was kicked in the groin and subsequently bitten on the leg by Richardson.
Following the incident, Patrolman Fanelli filed a Criminal Complaint against Miranda Richardson, charging her with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple assault, and harassment.
Richardson was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, who set bail at $10,000, which Richardson was unable to post. and transported to Schuylkill County Prison.
