John J. Cavanaugh, 74, of Mahanoy City, PA passed away on March 20th, at his residence after a hard-fought battle with cancer. John was born on May 12, 1949, to John and Valeria Cavanaugh in Mahanoy City. After graduating from Mahanoy Area High School in 1967, he began a successful career with Acme Markets as a meat butcher working his way up to being a highly respected manager. In 1977, John met Diane (Lopez) Cavanaugh. John and Diane provided a loving home to their son, Keith, and daughter, Danielle.John was predeceased by his son Sean and sister Maureen Schwank. John is survived by his wife, Diane and daughter, Danielle of Mahanoy City; his son, Keith, husband of Angela (Wynn) Cavanaugh of Winter Garden, FL; his grandson Tyler, husband of Cheyenne of Orlando, FL; and his two sisters, Kathy, wife of Joseph Evans, of Frackville and Karen, wife of Bill Chilinskas of Barnesville.
Upon John’s retirement he lived life like it was meant to be lived. He had an immense passion for his family, friends, and golf. He spent a lot of his time on the golf course appreciating the beautiful natural views created by God. He is now putting for birdie in the Heavens above us. He will be truly missed by all.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Truskowsky Funeral Home on Sunday, March 24th, between 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Doris E. Leiby, family matriarch, 80 years of age, of Summer Valley Road, New Ringgold, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital Allentown. Born Monday, October 11, 1943 in Andreas, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Earl, and Beatrice (Hartung) Zeigler. Doris was also predeceased by; sister, Joan Miller; brother, Ronald W. Zeigler who she helped to raise.
Surviving are; her beloved husband of 61 years, Lamar M. Leiby; daughter, Shelly Heisler wife of Todd of Tamaqua and their children, Lindsay Schegan and her husband Zachary, Jordan Heisler and his wife Talli; great grandchildren, Caleb Schegan, Luke Schegan, Ella Heisler, and newborn Everly Heisler; Bryan Miller her nephew who Doris, and Lamar raised as a son upon the passing of his mother Joan and his wife Sharon, their children, Sarah Greenall and her husband Gregory their son Cayden, Makenna and Katie Miller; sisters, Barbara Stegmeier wife of the late Robert Stegmeier of Tamaqua, Joyce Knepper wife of Robert of Summit Hill; brother Larry Zeigler; Nieces who Doris loved immensely, Ashley Rodgers and her husband Thomas their children Lilly, and Myra, Naomi Lee Chula and her children, Orynn, Sequoya, Onoka, Zechariah, Ezra; sister-in-law, Helene Zeigler.
A 1961 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Doris worked as a beautician for many years. A member of Christ Evangelical Free Church of Lehighton, Doris, and Lamar enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, and cruises; however, Doris' greatest role was that of wife, mother, sister, nanny. Doris hosted every major holiday and took great pride in handling every minute detail no matter the number of family member’s coming. She and Lamar enjoyed attending all their grandchildren’s and niece's sporting, and school events, while even traveling to Jordan’s baseball games while he played collegiately.

A Celebration of Doris's Life will take place on Thursday March 28, 2024 at 2 o'clock P.M. from the funeral home. Friends may call from 12:30 P.M. until the time of services.
Private Interment will be in Christ Evangelical Free Church Cemetery, Lehighton, Pennsylvania.
