Daryl Marshall, 85, of Summit Hill, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in Paoli, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of John “Jack” Marshall with whom she would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in October.Born in Tamaqua on December 15, 1938, Daryl was a daughter of the late Charles W. Long and Gladys (Winkel) Long. A 1956 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Summit Hill and worked for many years as an administrator for the American Cancer Society. Daryl was a caring and generous individual who always prioritized the needs of others before her own. She had a creative spirit and excelled in various artistic endeavors, particularly painting. Her love for music, especially the tunes of Tom Jones, brought her immense joy. Daryl found solace in the pages of books with Daniel Silva being her favorite author. Her meticulous nature and attention to detail were evident in all aspects of her life, matched only by her unwavering desire for organization. Daryl took delight in preparing for events, whether it was ordering cookies and nut rolls for her family during the holidays or carefully selecting gifts for her loved ones after scouring online shopping sites or watching QVC at all hours. Her chocolate cake with the best peanut butter icing became the most popular request during the annual Summit Hill Memorial Day parade. Daryl will be remembered for her kind heart, her creative spirit, and her dedication to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will be cherished by all who knew her.
In addition to her devoted husband, she is survived by a loving daughter, Kathy and her companion Michael Furman; a brother, Charles Long of Tamaqua; and nieces, Becky Herb, Patricia Green, and Janet Green Trumbore. Daryl was predeceased by her parents; a son, John D. Marshall; and a sister, Karen Long Miller.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 2, in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 109 Greenwood Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Cindy White officiating. Interment in Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua will follow the services. Call Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM in the church.

Alice "Chutie" Chupick, 72, of N. Pine St., Tremont, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill East, Pottsville.
Born on June 2, 1951 in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Martha D'Agostino Fisher.
She was a 1969 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.
Alice was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She also loved the beach. Her family was her world and she loved spending time with and taking care of them.
Preceding her in death were a sister, Nancy Wolfe and a brother Joseph L. Fisher.
Surviving are her husband and best friend of 53 years, John Chupick, Sr.; two sons, John Jr. and wife Danielle Chupick of Pine Grove, Joseph and wife Elaine Chupick of Minersville; a daughter, Angela and husband Robert Valent of Grantville; six grandchildren, Kamdon, Tallin, Kaylonie, James, Trista and husband Dwight, and Donald Jr.; three great grandchildren, Christopher, Aden and Lukas; two sisters, Shirley and husband Howard Mills of Harpers Ferry, W.V., Patty Zerbe of Pine Grove; a brother, James and wife April Fisher of Pine Grove; nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory.

Mance L. "Bear" Carroll, 68, of S. Tulpehocken St., passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at home.
Born on April 9, 1955 in Linglestown, he was the son of the late Richard W. Sr. and Nancy Hoffer Carroll.
He was a 1973 graduate of Central Dauphin High School.
Mance worked for CAT as a heavy equipment operator.
Surviving are his wife of almost 23 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Kleeman Carroll; two daughters, Brandi Carroll and Alea Carroll, both of Annville; three grandchildren, Colby, Trevor and Leann; a great granddaughter, Anatasia; a sister, Nancy "Terry" Carroll; two brothers, Richard Carroll, Jr. and Robert Bobby Carroll; all of Linglestown; nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc, Pine Grove, with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 139 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in his memory to help with expenses.
Joseph C. Dereskavich, age 83, of Barnesville, died Monday at St. Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale. A son of the late Joseph and Mary Dereskavich he was a 1958 graduate of Mahanoy Township High School and was a United Sates Navy veteran serving aboard the USS Alcor. He had worked for and retired from Kraft Foods. He was a member of St. Richard's Church in Barnesville, was a member and past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Church, a 50 year member of the TPA, and member of the Knight of Lithuania Council # 144.

He enjoyed playing the violin, fly tying, and wood carving and was proud to display his creations and the ethnic festivals. He is survived by his wife of 57 years the former Barbara Nolter, a son Matthew of Barnesville and four grandchildren Joshua, Zachary, Nadya and Vladimir.. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Finlan at 1 PM Saturday April 6 from St. Richard's Church in Barnesville. Friends may call at the church on Saturday beginning at noon until time of Mass. Contributions in his name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of the church and will be accepted at the visitation.

Mary Ann G. Pronio, 71, of Shenandoah, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.
Born in Shenandoah on April 3, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Emmett “Zaz” and Mary (Kizes) Oravitz.
Mary Ann was a 1970 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School. She worked many years as a receptionist for the Catholic Churches in Shenandoah. She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and their Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens. Mary Ann enjoyed her trips to the casino and going shopping.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Pronio in 2017, along with two brothers, Robert and Gerald Oravitz.
The surviving family includes several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as the families of Albert Pronio, Mark Pronio, and Pamela Twardzik, her sister-in-law – Mary Oravitz of Delaware, and her friend and caregiver – Dolores Micko of Shenandoah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 8th at 10:00am in Divine Mercy Parish, 218 W. Cherry St, Shenandoah and will be officiated by Msgr. Ronald Bocian. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday morning, April 8th from 8:30 to 9:30am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Burial will follow Mass in St. Stephen’s Parish Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
