Born on August 30, 1934, in Pottsville, she was the cherished daughter of the late Isaac and Sophia (Wachter) Weiner and the youngest of their children.
Phyllis graduated from Pottsville High School in 1952, followed by Syracuse University in 1956.
An active contributor to her community, Phyllis was a devoted member of the Oheb Zedeck Synagogue and its Sisterhood, as well as the Hadassah.
After graduating, she moved to New York City, where she met her beloved husband, Jerry, and began her career as a medical social worker at Pottsville Hospital. Even after retiring from over 20 years of dedicated service, she continued to volunteer, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Phyllis was passionate about art and literature, and enjoyed bowling and Mahjong with her friends. Family was her foremost priority, and she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, serving as a mentor to them as well as to her friends, nieces, and nephews. She was fortunate to share her life in Pottsville with two of her sisters and their families.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, her sisters: Lorraine Forman, Alice Skurnik, and Dorothy Golin; and husband, Jerry Field.
She leaves behind her loving children, Amy R. Lewis, of Auburn; Steven I. Field and his wife, Laura, of Orwigsburg; her beloved grandchildren: Sadie (Brock), Lucia, Julianne, George (Sierra), and Henry; her great- granddaughter, Sienna; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to honor Phyllis's life will be held on Thursday, March 7th, at 10:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Rabbi Brian Michelson officiating. A visitation with the family will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions in Phyllis's memory be sent to: The Field Family Scholastic Award at Pottsville High School, 1600 Elk Ave, Pottsville, PA 17901.
