Velma Nancy John
, 84, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Wednesday, March 6th, at her residence.

Nancy was born in Frackville, PA on September 19, 1939, a daughter of the late Ann and Peter Gerasinovich.

She was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City.

Nancy worked in the garment industry in Shenandoah.

She had belonged to the Mahanoy City ELKS and the Mahanoy City VFW.

Nancy was the widow of Charles John

Nancy is survived by two daughters, Charlene, wife of Todd Troup, of Frackville;

Sondra John, of Mahanoy City; a brother, Steven Geras, of Reading.

She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren, and 9 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Nancy is preceded in death by her daughter Debra, and Sisters Catherine Hollenbach, Marie Miller, and Anna Waiksnoris.

Funeral Service at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 AM on Monday, March 11th, with Deacon Dave Henninger officiating.

Earl H. Bridygham, Jr, 99, of Reynolds, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Orwigsburg. He was the son of the late Earl H. Bridygham, Sr. and Wilhelmina (Winkel) Bridygham. 

Born in Tuscarora, Pennsylvania on October 29, 1924, he was married to Rose (Assalita) Bridygham for 43 years until her passing in 2014. Earl graduated from Blythe Township High School in 1942 and was most proud of his service in the U.S. Army during World War II. He arrived in Europe at Omaha Beach around August 15, 1944, and was eventually assigned to the 1st Battalion Headquarters Company, 13th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. He spent the winter of 1944-1945 in action in the Hurtgen Forest. In addition to his military service, Earl was proud of his 75 years of continuous membership in the American Legion C.H. Berry Post #173, Tamaqua where he spent a good deal of time breaking in new bartenders. 

Earl was employed on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Earlier, he had worked for Norman Schock Trucking of Tuscarora. He was also active in civic endeavors including the Tuscarora Fire Company, the Schuylkill Township Sewer Authority, the Tamaqua Area School Board, the Schuylkill Township Republican Committee, and was an organizer of the Tuscarora Ambulance Corps. Earl was also a faithful attendee of the former Advent Lutheran Church in Tuscarora where he was a longtime church council member. 

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth; sisters, Alethea Price, Ethel Puschock, Helen Schappel, Mildred Fisher, Esther Davies, and Ruth Baddick; a niece, Ruthann Storch; and nephews, Leroy Bridygham and David Price. 

Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, March 9, in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Mauch Chunk Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Dillon Epler officiating. Interment in St. Jerome Cemetery, Lombard Street, Tamaqua will follow the services. Call Saturday from 11 AM to 12 PM on in the church. Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion, C.H. Berry Post #173, 206 West Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Marva J. Cerullo, RN
, of Wapwallopen, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hazleton Campus at 82 years of age.

Born Monday, April 14, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Eliza (Hanley) Pollard. Marva was also predeceased by her siblings, Judy Mazeikas and Frank Pollard and her husband, Frank Cerullo.

Surviving are her two daughters, Lisa M. Perla and her partner Eric Henger with whom she resided, and Kimberly M. Derr and her husband Paul “Gus” Derr. Also surviving are her beloved grandsons; David Kitchen, and Dalton Perla.

A graduate of Mount Carmel High School, Marva earned her Registered Nursing certification from the Geisinger School of Nursing. After graduating she began a family and maintained a long distinguished career eventually retiring as the medical director of S.C.I. Mahanoy Prison, after previously serving as Vice President of the Berwick Hospital.

She took much pride in seeing the accomplishments of those that she loved and mentored. Even throughout her own successful career, she was in attendance to every one of her grandson’s sporting events as well as supporting her daughter Lisa in following in her footsteps as a nurse.

Being a devoted caregiver even after retirement, “Nan” as she was affectionately referred to as, enjoyed taking care of her dog, Mahoney, and nurturing her many flowers that filled her home. In times of good health and good weather she could often be found walking down her lane of her beloved country home.

A celebration of Marva’s life will be announced by the family.

Rosemary C. (Ulceski) Jefferson passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 4, 2024 at her home in Shenandoah.

She was born on November 11, 1953 in Ashland to Rosemary Grady and Edward (Pooch) Ulceski.

Rosemary was a resident of Shenandoah and was a 1971 graduate of the former Cardinal Brennan High School, Fountain Springs, Ashland.

She married Joesph M. Jefferson on June 1st, 2014 in Shenandoah.

Rosemary was a retired seamstress and then was a home health aid where hardworking hands continued their endeavor by helping others, something she loved to do.

She was a member of Saint Michael’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Shenandoah where she volunteered making pierogies and helping with other parish fundraising events.

Rosemary was always high energy and was an incredibly hardworking person. She was very loving and caring and would never hesitate to help someone in need.

Her family, which certainly would include her dogs, and the Philadelphia Phillies were her biggest passions. She loved the outdoors, whether it was camping or planting flowers or doing yardwork.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents was her first husband John Hysock Sr.

In addition to her husband, Joseph M. Jefferson, Rosemary is survived by three sons, Johnny, Jason, and Timmy; six grandchildren, Noah, Nyah, Jocelyn, Kaylee, Alaina and Rowan; an older brother Edward Ulceski; a younger sister, Kathy Ulceski; and two nephews, Stephen and Michael.

Religious services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah with Father Paul Spotts officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 8:30 am until 10:00 am at the funeral home where family and friends can reminisce, and honor the life of Rosemary.

Margaret F. Bedway, R.N.
, 75, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Sunday, March 3, at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

Born April 3, 1948, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Mohan) Forbes.

She was the widow of Paul J. Bedway.

Margie graduated from Nativity BVM High School in 1966 and Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing in 1969.

She worked as a private duty registered nurse and built a successful business with her husband.

Margie was a member of Church of The Nazarene, Schuylkill Haven. She also belonged to the Pottsville Hospital Women's Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Forbes.

Margie is survived by her daughter and caretaker, Tammy, wife of Dan Amato, of Orwigsburg, and their son, Dean and his fiancée, Arizona; her stepson, Paul Bedway Jr. and wife, Kim, daughter-in-law and friend, of Orwigsburg, and their children, Amanda, wife of Mike Adams, and PJ Bedway and wife, Ashley. Margie is survived by four great-grandchildren, Connor, Carson and Olivia Adams and Brody Bedway; her sister, Kathy "Tash" Brazinsky, wife of Mark, of Port Carbon, and their son, Brice; three sisters-in-law, Fran, Roseanne and Joann; dear friend, Lesa Fredericks; and beloved feline companion, Icy, and canine companion, Louie.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at noon Monday, March 11, at Schuylkill Memorial Park Chapel, Schuylkill Haven, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park. At the family's request, memorial donations in Margie's name may be forwarded to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn. Processing Center, P.O. Ronald J. "Chuck” Gennarini
, 89, of Shenandoah, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at his residence.

Born July 19, 1934, in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late Alphonso and Angelina (Palla) Gennarini.

Ronald was a graduate of J.W. Cooper High School Class of 1953. He retired from Hershey Foods in 1996.

He served 4 years in the United States Navy on the USS Toledo and USS Baltimore.

Ronald was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Glover’s Hill Athletic Club, 500 club, Park Crest Fish & Game, the USS Toledo (CA-133) Association, and the American Legion Anthony P. Damato Post 792 in Shenandoah. He was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and attending his US Navy Reunions across the country.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were sisters Mary Gualtier and Vali Fama, and brothers Raymond and Reviani Gennarini. He was the last member of his immediate family.

He is survived by wife Sally (Salmon), son Jamie and wife Heather of Tennessee, daughter Tracy and husband Daniel Bro of Barnesville, 5 grandchildren- Amanda, Nicole, Felicia, Carson, and Anthony, a great-granddaughter, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10am on March 8th in Divine Mercy Parish, 232 W. Cherry St, Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held from 8:30am to 10am at Divine Mercy Parish.

Contributions, in Ronald’s name, may be made to Divine Mercy Parish or Shenandoah Community Ambulance, 229 North Main St, Shenandoah, PA 17976. Donations to either will also be accepted at the visitation.

Helen A. Susarchick
, beloved mother, grandmother, 96 formerly of Tuscarora, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, as a guest of Pottsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.

Born Wednesday, September 28, 1927 in Pottsville, the daughter of the late John B. and Anna (Brennan) Burns. Helen was also predeceased by; husband, Paul Susarchick; son Gerald Susarchick; sister, Mary Dahm - Schidley; brother, John J. Burns.

Surviving are; son, Paul Susarchick and his wife Jean Arner of Tamaqua; granddaughter, Sophia Susarchick.

A graduate of Tamaqua High School, Helen had worked at the former Atlas Powder Co. of Reynolds, and as a cafeteria aide at the former Tuscarora School. A member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Helen was a devoted mother, and Nan who enjoyed cooking, and baking. Helen looked forward to playing Bingo.
