A Pottsville man is released on bail after he was taken into custody following a domestic dispute.
According to Pottsville Police, on Monday, May 27th, 2024, around 10:45pm, police units were dispatched a residence in the 500 block West Norwegian Street for a domestic report and that the suspect, Michael Sweetwood, age 26, assaulted a female.
Upon arrival, Units were advised by a witness, who told officers that Sweetwood ran from the residence and that she doesn't where he went. Officers were unable to locate Sweetwood.
Officers interviewed the female victim and observed swelling to her forehead and face. Also, she was bleeding from the mouth, nose, and ear, and she was complaining of severe head pain and hearing problems from the assault.
The victim told officers the argument started when she made a joke to Sweetwood about him using her phone charger which made him angry. Sweetwood then told the victim to go do the dishes which she then threw a nerf gun on the ground nearby. Sweetwood then charged at her and started punching her multiple times in the face and that the assault ended due to the witness calling the police.
The victim was transported LHVN East for medical treatment.
Due to the above investigation, a warrant of arrest charging Michael Sweetwood with aggravated assault (F1), simple assault (M1), and harassment (s) pursuant section 2711 domestic violence was issued by MDJ Serena.
He would be taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judges James Reiley on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024 and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $20,000 straight cash bail.
