A fire damaged a Pottsville apartment complex late Thursday afternoon.
Just before 6:00pm, Thursday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the Norwegian Manor Apartments, located at 20 South 23rd Street in Pottsville for an apartment building fire.Further information showed that the fire was into the wall of one of the third floor apartments and when firefighters arrived on scene, a working fire was confirmed.
Smoke billowed from the eves and roof edges as firefighters fought the blaze which heavily damaged at least one unit.
One female resident was rescued from the building and taken to an ambulance and transported to the hospital.
Firefighters also rescued several pets from the apartments and brought them to safety to their owners.
No details were available on the cause or extent of the fire as of Thursday evening. The American Red Cross Disaster Action Team was called to the scene to assist the victims.
