Multiple people were transported to the hospital Monday evening after a crash in West Mahanoy Township.
The crash occurred around 6:50pm at the intersection of Mount Olive Boulevard (Route 54) and Colorado Road when a vehicle lost control, went off the roadway, and struck a train car.
The five occupants of the vehicle all suffered injuries with 3 of them being flown to area hospitals. The other two were transported by ambulance.
Route 54 was closed in the area while the scene was cleared.
West Mahanoy Township Fire Companies responded to the scene and the Rangers Hose Company from Girardville handled the landing zone at the Shenandoah Youth Soccer Field.
Details on the crash were not immediately available. West Mahanoy Township Police are investigating the crash.
