The Mahanoy Area School District will be closed Tuesday due to storm damage.
On Monday evening, around 7:45pm, a possible tornado pushed through Mahanoy City leaving a trail of damage and knocked power out to the west of the borough.
Early information advised to emergency personnel reported that the Mahanoy Area School District also sustained damage. The extent of the damage was not known as of this posting.
Just after 9:00pm the district announced they would be closed Tuesday.
