NEPA Manufacturers and Employers Association Celebrates Excellence at Annual "Night of Celebration!"


The NEPA Manufacturers and Employers Association (MAEA) hosted its "Night of Celebration!" on May 7, 2024, at the Mt. Valley Clubhouse in Schuylkill County, honoring companies from six different counties for their outstanding achievements. 

The event recognized the excellence of manufacturers and employers from Northern Susquehanna County to the Lehigh Valley.

Attendees included Senators Casey, Fetterman, Argall, Flynn, Baker, Schlegel Culver, and Miller, along with Representatives Meuser, Wild, Cartwright, Twardzik, Watro, Leadbeter, Fritz, Pashinski, Siegel, Stehr, and Barton. Additionally, honorees were acknowledged by the National Association of Manufacturers, the Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association, and Commissioners from Schuylkill, Columbia, and Lackawanna Counties.

Company Accomplishments

Hydro Extrusion North America, LLC 
Awarded: Manufacturer Community Involvement

Hydro Extrusion North America, LLC was honored for its extensive community engagement, including recycling aluminum to support Hillside SPCA, collecting donations for local shelters, and backing numerous organizations such as the United Way and the American Cancer Society. Hydro is dedicated to local educational programs, providing scholarships, and supporting various charitable activities.

Zimmerman Machine, Inc. 
Awarded: Manufacturer Process Improvement Small Business

Zimmerman Machine, Inc. added two new CNC machines to enhance production capabilities. The new Proto Trak 2470 RX CNC lathe and DN Solutions horizontal milling machine have enabled the company to achieve lights-out production, significantly boosting efficiency and capacity.

Diaz Manufacturing LLC
Award: Manufacturer Process Improvement

Diaz Manufacturing undertook a major equipment overhaul, updating its production line with state-of-the-art machinery. This upgrade has improved material usage, safety, productivity, and product quality, ensuring Diaz's continued leadership in the specialty millwork industry.

InterMetro Industries Corp. 
Awarded: Manufacturer Product Innovation

InterMetro Industries introduced the TableWorx system, a modular stainless steel worktable platform designed to maximize efficiency and flexibility. The system allows for countless configurations, enhancing productivity and supporting stringent cleaning protocols.

Mrs. T’s Pierogies
Awarded: Manufacturer Product Innovation

Mrs. T’s Pierogies launched Snack Pierogies, targeting the snacking trend with quick-cooking, air-fryer-friendly products. Available in bold flavors, these snack-sized pierogies have already seen success in Pittsburgh, especially through a partnership with Eat’n Park restaurants.

EMD Electronics 
Awarded: Manufacturer Expansion

EMD Electronics celebrated a significant expansion at their Hometown Facility with the construction of a new building dedicated to WF6 production. This $88.7 million project will increase production capacity by 92% and add 20 new jobs, underscoring EMD's commitment to community and economic development.

Benton Foundry, Inc.
Awarded: Manufacturer EHS – Environmental, Health & Safety

Benton Foundry completed an environmentally-focused expansion project, installing wetlands, rain gardens, and storm water-quality filters to mitigate environmental impact and enhance local water quality.

UFP Industries, Gordon
Awarded: Manufacturers Community Involvement Honorable Mention & MAEA Commitment Award

EAM-Mosca has consistently grown by leveraging advanced technology and fostering a motivated workforce. Their innovative Max-Q bundling equipment exemplifies their commitment to solving customer challenges and sustaining industry leadership.

PPL Electric Utilities 
Awarded: Employer Community Involvement

PPL played a crucial role in completing a major industrial warehouse facility, facilitating economic development and job creation in the region. Their partnership efforts were essential in bringing this project to fruition.

Award: Employer Product Innovation

Masser Family of Companies launched AMAZABLES, a new potato product with innovative packaging and preparation methods, catering to consumer demand for convenient, flavorful meal solutions.

Downtown Shenandoah, Inc. (DSI)

DSI is developing The Center For Education, Business & Arts (CEBA), a community hub designed to support economic growth and provide resources for local entrepreneurs. This multi-purpose facility represents a significant investment in the community's future.

Penn State Schuylkill
Awarded: Employer EHS – Environmental, Health & Safety

Penn State Schuylkill earned Level I arboretum accreditation from ArbNet, reflecting their commitment to sustainability and environmental education. The campus arboretum now features 42 species of trees and woody plants, contributing to local biodiversity and environmental awareness.
