Over a Dozen Dogs and Other Neglected Animals Rescued from Coaldale Home

An investigation is underway in Coaldale after a case of animal neglect was reported to law enforcement.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg, on Monday, May 20th, 2024, a search warrant was executed by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Coaldale Borough Police at a home in Coaldale for a report of neglected animals.

The search led to the finding of 17 Great Pyrenees Dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds, and a turtle.  All the animals were seized by police as they were found in a state of severe neglect, showed signs of malnutrition, had untreated medical conditions, and the living conditions were poor.

Charges are currently pending as the investigation continues against the property owner.  The SPCA is also working with law enforcement as part of the investigation and to get the animals medical care.
