Attempted Car Theft in Frackville Leads to Arrest of McAdoo Man


A McAdoo man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison for allegedly attempting to steal a vehicle in Frackville on Monday.

According to Frackville Police, on Monday, June 17th, 2024, around 3:30pm, Frackville Police were dispatched to a home in the Unit Block of N. Nice St. for a report of an attempted Motor Vehicle Theft.

Upon speaking with the victim, he reported that he had started his vehicle and then went back inside his home to gather belongings. The victim took the key fob for the vehicle with him. 

When he returned to his vehicle, he found a male dressed in black inside the vehicle, attempting to get the car into gear. The victim tried to detain the actor, however, was unable to do so and the male fled the area, heading north on N. Nice St. 

The male was later located by Police in the area of N. Second St and W. High St. and taken into custody. 

The suspect would be identified as Anthony Romano, 30, with a last known address in McAdoo. 

A criminal complaint was completed by Ptlm Joseph Murton, charging Romano with Attempt to Commit Motor Vehicle Theft. A preliminary arraignment was held before Judge Kilker and bail was set at 10% of $10,000. Romano was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post bail.
