Caregiver Arrested for Stealing $3,500 from Elderly Pottsville Resident


A woman is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison for stealing $3,500 from an elderly Pottsville woman while she was a caregiver.
On Monday, June 3rd, 2024, around 10:15am, Pottsville Police were dispatched to 510 West Norwegian Street, Michael Close Apartments, for a fraud report involving someone stealing money from a bank account.

Police arrived and spoke with the complainant, an 82-year-old resident, who said a female named Angela Grubb, 30, was her care-giver for a previous injury for approximately two months. She said she noticed her new bank card was missing so after she checked her monthly bank statements, she saw multiple transactions that she did not do nor authorize anyone else to do.

Police were able to go to conduct an investigation into who was using the card on the specific dates and times. At the conclusion of the investigation, Grubb was positively identified as the suspect based on video surveillance and her own admission after being taken into Police custody. It was determined that Grubb used the victim’s card close to 40 times without the for an approximate valuation of $3,500 while she was acting as a care giver.

Grubb was charged with Access Device Fraud (F3), Financial Exploitation of an Older Adult (F3), Theft (F3), Receiving Stolen Property (F3), and Identity Theft (F3). Grubb was subsequently remanded to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 straight cash bail after being taken into custody.
