Wind Topples More Utility Poles on Centre Street in Ashland

On Monday, just before 4:00pm, emergency personnel were called to the 500 and 600 blocks of Centre Street in Ashland after the wind knocked down several utility poles.

Two poles are laying in the street and blocking traffic in both directions.

The fallen poles narrowly missed several vehicles that were traveling on Centre Street at time.

The Ashland Fire Department, Fire Police, Borough Police, and Borough crews are at the scene waiting for PPL crews to arrive.

As of 4:30pm, the power lines were still energized and there were no reports of lost power in the area.

On June 7th, 2024, a similar event occurred when two poles fell in the 900 and 1000 Blocks.

Borough officials have expressed concerned over the poles as they've become to deteriorate at their base.

At the last borough council meeting, borough officials said they were attempting to contact PPL to have all the poles replaced.
