High School Football Challenge Raises $33,500 for the Schuylkill United Way

The seventh annual Schuylkill United Way High School Football Challenge saw next season's football hopefuls showcase their talents on Tuesday evening.

Spartan Stadium at North Schuylkill was the epicenter of intense competition as players from 14 high school teams across Schuylkill County gathered to test their speed, agility, and strength.

The event, which raised $33,500 for the Schuylkill United Way, featured eight grueling competitions designed to push the athletes to their limits. Events included the tire flip, shuttle relay, passing accuracy, sled push, farmers carry, bench press, and broad jump, along with a halftime field goal kicking competition.

Each team had five minutes per event to accumulate as many points as possible, with their scores contributing to an overall total. The competition was fierce, and scores were calculated and ranked to determine the winners.

By the end of the night, Blue Mountain emerged victorious as the 2024 champion. Schuylkill Haven claimed second place, while North Schuylkill, last year's champions, finished in third. The event highlighted not only the athletic prowess of the participants but also their community spirit, as they came together to support a worthy cause.
