Home Heavily Damaged by Fire in Gilberton

Firefighters made quick work of a fire that heavily damaged a home in Gilberton on Tuesday evening.

The call came just before 6:00pm when firefighers were dispatched to 115 Main Street Gilberton for a house fire.

Firefighters arrived to find the rear end of the of the modular home fully engulfed in flames.  One person was home at the time when the fire began.

Within minutes firefighters had the fire under control, but the fire extensively damaged the entire home.

According to Gilberton Fire Marshal Barry Brassington, a state police fire marshal was requested to the scene to determine a cause and the American Red Cross was also called to help with the fire victims.

Responding to the scene were fire companies from Gilberton, Shenandoah, Frackville, Mahanoy City, and Englewood.  Frackville Police and Ambulance were also on scene.
